True, but it doesn't sound like you have any shortage of ideas and it takes multiple years per run. Our time, I have no idea how long it is for Yulia and Co. Not very given that floor and the last was done almost without sleep.
It is more of the nature of these kind of stories. You could speed things up by reducing time we feel the need to spend entire chapter casting Identify or just healing.
I don't think you could speed things up much without losing something major or doing updates more often. And I don't think either of those is worth doing. Perhaps rolling the usual identify/heal directly into the next bit would help but there are only so many opportunities for that kind of thing anyway, and it's dependant on us giving thoughts for what to do after these things.
Oh jeez, this conversation right from the beginning huh? Well, it seems we can make a decision about the door after the service, so I think a utility spell would be useful. Maybe we'll get another Identify so we can upgrade it? As for the door... we've gotten a lot of hints throughout our journey, but it's finally time for things to be clearly laid out. We've heard there's a great reward for any Chosen who defeats all nine floor monsters they encounter, I'm sure we're about to find out what exactly that is. We'll find out what (or, I suspect, who) the final floor's floor monster is. I also find it interesting that we're making this decision now, at the beginning of the floor. I guess the decision we make here will determine the trials we have to face. As for Dahlia, I'm curious to see what's changed. It probably has to do with the fact that she trades boons for fetishes that can impede the Chosen's judgement and fighting abilities, but those are meant to be a small long-term risk. That won't be nearly as much of an issue now with the end in sight, so maybe the conditions have changed? Guess we'll find out.
Not taking her services means we cannot open that door? If we do take her services can we avoid the fight that is probably required to open that door? Is it even worth opening the door at all? Previously, taking a risk ment being better prepared for the future, but this really feels like something else. The way the question is posed makes me think that there is some consequence to her services that is automatic. There are some kind of rules Alide has to play by here that is preventing her being her usual self. I am really not sure. Could identifying various things tell us something? The door or Alide perhaps? What about using Open on the door (probably not but maybe breaking the standard sequence might do something). I think we should use her services, because she has been trustworthy so far and clearly wants us to, that or her rules are really quite strict. The service we should get is a utility spell, these seem to have generally excellent returns. We could also consider if we have anything she can trade for something more useful.
At this point I'd say that those are likely to be "What is behind the door?" and "Who is the final floor monster and how do we defeat it?" What can we trade to Alide, as we have several weapons and pieces of clothing, like grenade launcher and bandolier with one grenade or black bikini bottoms that do not seem to be really worth using later?
The grenade launcher is pretty useful as it replenishes one grenade per floor. In that regard, engin you need to update our grenades ;P I don't think using Alide's services here will lock us into anything. That seems somewhat random. We will almost certainly have to make a choice here. Anyways, I think getting an utility spell here is fine. I don't think we need to make use of her healing service. I believe we checked all our useless items a floor back already and I would like to keep the new items we got.
Right yes the grenade... Also to add to it... The fourth most important question is "Who is ascending the Tower?" Also it's the bandolier not the launcher that gives a grenade every floor.
That was my only candidate for more important question. I wonder what questions are coming up then...
The most important question is probably "What do you wish for?" because even if Yulia knew what she wanted when she entered the Tower that answer can change. Yulia came here because her entire world is at stake, she came here with convictions and a selfless goal. But it isn't just Yulia who reaches this stage. There are all sorts of wishes one can come into the Tower with. Some desire power, some desire wealth, some have all sorts of personal goals. In terms of power, any Chosen who has made it this far would be much stronger than when they came in. There's also the influences of the Towers Above and Below, as well as the fetish system. And there could be some kind of condition on the wish beyond simply "make it to the top of the tower and overcome all the challenges along the way." Maybe there's a requirement to stay in the Tower, or one to give up the things you've gained within it. Some sort of price or consequence that serves as one last trial for the Chosen. All that said, I'd like to be proven wrong, but I suspect that "what do you wish for?" will be the most important and most difficult choice of this entire adventure.
Well, before anything else, let's use that spell tome on Yulia to max out Unlock/Open. The conceptual opening stuff will be very useful. (The dialogue calls it Unlock but we have Open in our spell list, I'm assuming it's the same spell.) As for the door... I say we agree to open it. Although even now, Alide still cannot confirm who our final opponent is, we've known for a while now. More than whatever reward lies behind this door, I want to free Alide from this role. Given there are still restrictions on what she can say, I believe her opinion that we can win is her genuine feelings. Remember, the two things we know for sure are that the fight ahead will involve lethal poison, and the maxed out Open spell's ability to get around even the Cloak of Turbulent Wave's defenses. Let's make sure Yulia has the halo, and get ready for a fight we've been preparing for longer than any other.
I agree with everything Emmie said. A lethal poison would be problematic for sure, I'm not convinced it'll work but make sure everyone has at least one of healing kits and cure potions just in case. Might as well take advantage of unlimited consumables.
