Don't be so quick to jump to conclusions, Yulia. How do you know that creature is even real and not an illusion? Stay away from the curvy female for now and explore the room. See if you can find any traps or any hint what might be the reason for the woman to be unconscious. While at it check out the altar and the statue and see if they are trapped in some way.
I would try to take the key. If you need it later, it would be very difficult to return and retrieve the key. If you do, keep to the edges of the room. Do not step on the grate. It's the only noteworthy aspect of the room apart from the altar, so it likely has something to do with the goblin's current state.
The doors lie. It doesn't matter which one you choose. Can't you hear the tower growling? Can't you hear the flesh squirming behind the stone, bones scraping the surface? The soft shiver of the floor under your feet. Tower twists and morphs when you aren't looking and only The Sun-in-Flesh is god here. The Red River. Burning yearning. The altar is for sacrifices and the woman is one. You are the only priest around. Offer her and tower might twist in your favor. Choose your sacrifice before it's chosen for you and don't look in monster's many mouths.
The next post is up, the door past the silver room has been dealt with for better or worse. What awaits next? Past the wooden or frosted door?
That could have been you getting violated in place of the goblin, Yulia. Or it could have been both you and the goblin at the same time. You may not like that you had to abandon her to her fate, but sometimes sacrifices are necessary, especially in a place like the tower. Remember your goal and stay strong, for if you fail the consequences will likely be a lot more severe than a goblin woman getting raped. Take a short rest before you move on – you deserve it. If it will help, imagine that your goddess is there with you, massaging your shoulders and helping you relax. Once you are ready to continue, try to open the wooden door, but do NOT go inside just yet! First check for any potential dangers or enemies – and remember to check the floor and ceiling too! Enter only if you are sure it is safe to do so, and be quick as you move through the room. As for the glass door, ignore it for now. It seems like the cold is coming from inside the room and without proper protection – which you lack – you will likely freeze to death.
According to the inventory you have one iron key, however last time the key was described as silver. I assume this was merely an error on your part, however as this could be vital please confirm if the key is silver or iron. I do not like the rate your health and mana is depleting without even engagin in any battle. What where you thinking embarking on this quest with such a weak constitution? You are not equipped to brave the wooden or the glass door. The later because of the cold, the former as it appears to have some enemy with a bladed weapon within. Hence here is my advice, forfeit this foolish adventure and descend the tower while you still can.
Huh... I didn't realize I had described the key initially... This is why it's important to look back on stuff... The key is iron. However I will also state that the composition of the key does not really matter and honestly I should have just put in the inventory. "A key" I have fixed it to be a simple non-descript key now. Sorry I'll try and pay more attention in the future. I need to stop making mistakes like this.
yeah, I expected as much. But hey, could have been a subtle attempt at trickery, gotta be careful with that. Since we get the story from Yulia's viewpoint there is also room for an unreliable narrator, it would be perfectly possible that she tought the key was silver at first, before confirming it as Iron when she got closer. (Also, i get off on calling her incompetent, soo...)
Well except that isn't true. The story is focused on Yulia as she's the character being followed and in some cases she is the one telling you what's going on, like what she saw peeking through the doors, but the conceit of the website concept is that you are essentially watching through an invisible camera that is following her and so you are generally supposed to be able to see her surroundings about as well as she can. While there is definitely room for an unreliable narrator in the story, visual aspects of the room she is in are meant to be something the voices are also seeing for themselves.
Hm, alright I think I need some more clarification here. Up until now I tought everything brought up in the story is fair game, but if it's a 3rd perspective kind of thing that might not be the case. For example, Yulia's toughts. Are we as the "voices" aware of them?
While technically you shouldn't be... Since I prefer writing in that style. Yes you are aware of anything that is written in the post including her thoughts. We'll just assume the magic camera transmits her thoughts as well.
Yulia... Yulia... Yulia, you have to make for yourself some mele weapon, you have a lot usefull suplises, but nothing to defend yourself is something suprise you. You have to take a rest and later make some weapon, for egzample from the chair. Club made of chair isn't good weapon, but is still better than bare hand.
The next post is up. A weapon achieved and an unknown task ahead. https://chyoa.com/chapter/The-Gate.919802
Good job spotting and disarming the trap, Yulia! I'm sure your goddess is proud of you and pleased that you did not give up so soon. But don't celebrate yet. The indents in the ceiling are likely there for a reason. It could be another trap – such as one that releases gas in the room, or one that shoots arrows down... Or it could be something to block your way, such as spikes coming down from the ceiling, or spikes rising from the floor. If it is just a way to keep you from coming back down, then it is no big deal, but if it is meant to bar your way up... something to think about. Don't rush to go inside just yet. Get another piece of the broken chair and try to open the frosted door without touching it. If you manage to do that take a look inside the room without entering – and be prepared to quickly close the door if there's a hostile creature inside. If you are unable to open the frosted door, then take a piece of the broken chair and throw it at the stairs up. See if anything happens when something passes under the indents in the ceiling – that might give you an idea what you're dealing with.
Ugh, your ineptitude is only eclipsed by your stubborness. Suit yourself then. moonblack's advice is solid, I second it. We voices have access to some information you are most likely not privy to, in particular your mana and health parameters Health: 90% Mana: 75% Since last time you regained 5% mana and 5% health, altough I assume it would be more if not for your clumsiness. If we can assume these parameters regenerate with time, there is no reason to rush forward, wait until they are at 100% Instead I would like you to take a look at the supplies of this "resting place" It looks like you did not deem it necessary to bring any food or water with you, as we do not know if you will still have access to this place afterwards i suggest you take a small portion of it with you. Make sure it's not too heavy to carry, and prioritise water. there is a risk of it being poisoned, but you do carry antidote with you, so i deem this is a slim risk.
Suddenly a long, draw out growl sounds, air shivering from tension, the stone walls vibrating threateningly. For a instance the growl stops, before a ear-piercing scraping comes from the walls, from the ceiling. The soft squish of corpses grinding against the wall. "GRATE USELESS. THE DOOR LEFT OPEN. THE INSATIABLE IS COMING." WALLS CRY. DOORS WEEP. TRAPS CURSE. "RUN!"
I am indeed laughing at you for assaulting yourself with a chair. You need to keep moving. Cowardice will not aid you in this tower. There are almost certainly consequences for stalling. You must be proactive, not reactive.
