bunch of birds eh? This shouldn't pose much of a problem I would usually say lightning is the better choice here, but Yulia's ice magic is boosted due to cat ears that said, since she recovers her mana fully anyways there is no reason to hold back. So let's go Blizzard, Icicle, Lightning Strike and Energize on Isalia, Cherchiel and Goma Cherchiel and Isalia jab any bird that comes close. Since footing is probably unsteady here be on the defensive. Goma, I doubt we need it, but might as well use puppet on one of the seagulls and have it attack the others. We might sustain a bit of damage in this fight due to lack of armor so I put you on healing duty as well Since we have no armor, I believe the biggest danger comes from them picking us up and dropping us into the volcano, Goma if that happens make sure to puppet the offending bird. I haven't forgetting about Boarchiel, but I think in this situation it's better to have a clear mind. I don't think it will be needed.
I literally just noticed you said cat ears... XD The Newest Post: We fought some Birbs I'm not sure, but Yulia might need some nerfs xD
If we don’t have any strong preference, might as well check out the ruins. That seems more likely to have a way to access the underwater section of this floor. Also, I’m glad we got a 3 in a fight with a DC of -31, good to get those low rolls out of the way.
Yeah... Man I feel like I might have fucked up... Things are going to feel pretty slow and low difficulty for a bit after the literal hell that was the previous floor. XD
To be fair, it's good to remember that even if there are beings in the Tower way stronger than Yulia, she herself is extremely powerful. As is her party.
And we didn't even sound the horn ;P Yulia definitely feels like she got a lot of overpowered magic stuff on her. The real kicker though is that it also plays off each other really well. Like we got the half mana cost on top of the free refill after every battle. Add in the double magic damage and Yulia turns into a veritable nuke But on the other hand, take Yulia out via a status ailment and the group is fucked, so I still think there is plenty of tension to go around Unfortunately I can't imagine the headband as anything else lol Hm,the trident doesn't look too useful. Can Goma wield it? Otherwise we might have hope to get something good out of it from Alide I take it these sea shells aren't crafting or smithing materials? I mean, I guess we could go back to Martin and ask him, but seems a bit of a stretch. Are more of them lying around on the beach or is there anything special about them? I also have to point out that Goma's mana should be at 90% due to that one puppet use. We still need a way to breath underwater so I would suggest we go to the other island first
the shells seem different. They're... curated in some way. Each of the shells the same type and colour as the others and very different from any shells you might see just lying around on the islands. Also god damn it... Fixing the mana...
I suspect the sea shells are undersea currency. That was my assumption even before Lehe mentioned the uniformity of them.
A Sahuagin? I'd lean towards caution here, but I suggest we try making contact. That said, let's be as cautious about it as possible. Yulia and Goma approach, while Isalia and Cherchiel remain in hiding and watch out for anything else that approaches. Yulia should try to communicate, while Goma should simply be prepared to cast Puppet should things go south.
Yeah, there's definitely something fishy about this guy We should ask him if he knows anything about the seashells, or where we can aquire some underwater breathing items These guys are apparently at war, so he should be fairly on edge, definitely excercise caution here and keep an eye on the water. There might be more of them below the waves
Newest Post: I never script these encounters... Sometimes I just get lucky and they're narratively convenient... other times we get stuff like Lumberer interrupting the narrative 30 god damn times and preventing Yulia et al from accessing and interacting with the Heart. Also... I would have gone with the Leviathan over Kraken, but... Leviathan is already part of the influence for Levateinn's name and having both things exist in the Tower would be awkward and potentially confusing.
Yeah, I don't want to deal with this thing until, at a minimum, we can breathe water. I say we go into a full retreat. Yulia, open up with a Blizzard and Undermine, then maybe Energize everyone. Goma, blow the horn to boost everyone. Isalia, lead the retreat. Cherchiel will bring up the rear. I'd say to follow the Sahuagin towards the swimsuit shop for now. We might have to use Dreg's services if it follows us that far, although we might be able to scare it off with some of Yulia's offensive magic.
The floor monster interrupting a conversation is somewhat of a tradition now lol I will have to disagree with Emmie here. I rather deal with the Kraken now when we are on land then underwater Fighting a Kraken on land is a rather rare experience. The main advantage a Kraken has is that it can surround it's prey and attack from all sides. Oh, and destroying the very surface its prey stands on of course. We don't have to worry about any of that here. Yulia, buff everyone except yourself with Energize, then cast undermine on the Kraken. Blizzard probably won't do use any good, but I mean it's so cheap might as well cast it anway. Main attack should be lightning strike Goma sound the horn, if any tentacles manages to grab one of the party members use puppet on them(the tentacle) and try to make them drop. Hm can Goma use the trident? That question wasn't answered yet Cherchiel turn into Boarchiel and stab the tentacles as they attack. Isalia same What I do agree might happen is that the kraken will retreat itself. But even in that case, I think the combat data we are getting out of this will be worthwile.
My concern is tentacles managing to grab someone and dragging them below the water. Not to mention, I don't know if Puppet would work on the tentacles.
It's a concern but I don't think it is enough to give up our advantegous position here. Also, I should have mentioned this in the original post, but running away doesn't automatically suceed. We might very well end up in a worse position for it.
Newest Post: I hate when the votes are split... Then I have to flip a coin or something unless there's an answer that would be more obviously in character for Yulia to choose... In this case it was a coin flip and the coin sided with running. I decided to give you a bit of extra knowledge discovery just because it helped justify the choice as well.
Well, glad to get a bit more info on how the kraken works. We'll have to prepare to take it down once we've got the waterbreathing problem figured out. As for the Sahuagin, it's clear he's up here alone. So we should just have Goma use Puppet to order him to hold still. He seems twitchy and paranoid, so let's keep him from waving his trident in our faces while talking to him. We should ask him about the shells, breathing underwater, and what he knows about the underwater civilizations.
this sounds like a solid plan. Let's go with it. He doesn't strike me as the cooperative sort, but we should stil try to avoid killing sentient beings. So lets do a catch and release here.
