I'm not sure what Gambio's plan is, but here's my idea to convince the Sirens. Although the Sahuagin weren't able to launch the full-scale attack they were planning, they used the weapons to inflict casualties on both of the other factions, and capture prisoners as well. We witnessed one such attack. This alliance with the Mermaids seems like a good way for both sides to pressure the Sahuagin into giving up their prisoners at a minimum, as well as potentially imposing reparations on them.
ffs Yulia, I said I had an angle! Alright, ehem! Aqua is dead! The fishpeople have been thrown into disarray! Now is the time to strike and crush them! Because of this we propose an alliance with the Mermaids Both sides will move in and crush the fishpeople while we infiltrate the castle and kill their king After, the fishpeople sea will be split up between Siren and Mermaid, as well as their people with which you may do as you see fit. It is an excellent proposal with only the fishpeople losing out. We want to end this war and this is the fastest way of doing so. A refusal of this alliance will force us to side with the mermaids and support their claim for hegemony. That would be unfortunate. But given that they are the only group that is an actual threat to us unavoidable. In order to cement and ensure this alliance Yulia has generously agreed to marry Lri.
Giggle reverberates from under the floor. Ehhhh~ Why does everyone have to be such a drag? Tsk. Nobody knows what it means to be a "good sport" in this wicked tower it seems. It wouldn't be such a huge issue for me to snip straps of your bikini top when you are distracted, right?~ Queen surely would appreciate a good look~ She seems like a cultured woman~ Cyan fog starts to squeeze through the cracks, letting out a gentle breeze of mana from the floors below and above. There is something else as well from some other place, magic that smelled of chlorine and bleach. Fog quickly dissipates without a trace, only bizarre smell lingering.
Gambio, I'm afraid you don't have an angle. Especially the bit about us siding with the Mermaids. We are currently in the middle of the Sirens' base. If we threaten to side with the Mermaids exclusively, they can simply capture us. Lri would side against us, and Lemiel has no obligation to protect us from the Sirens now that Aqua is dead. Also, being completely real, our track record on this floor has been very mixed, and I don't think our party alone could turn the tide in the favor of the Mermaids even if we were able to get back to them safely. Instead, I think we should use the threat posed by the alliance's existence to put pressure on the Sahuagin, but offer them a peaceful solution: All three sides free their prisoners. It will be beneficial for us, since it would include Isalia. And I'm hoping each of the three factions would rather get their own people back than keep their prisoners. It would also help de-escalate the war. There isn't much we can do about the generations of conflict and hatred, but if all three sides give up their prisoners that's one less issue to fight over in the near future. I don't think the Sahuagin would want to go to war with both of the other factions if they can help it, and they do get something back (the Sahuagin held by the Sirens and Mermaids) so they do gain something from accepting the peaceful option. Also, welcome new Voice! I'm Good Cop, Gambio is Bad Cop, and you are currently ??? Cop.
I am the wacky one with all the wackyness. Edit: Honestly. It would be a soo unfortunate if something happened to all those soldiers. Can you imagine the finger pointing if something gone really wrong? Everyone is worn down to the point where, if there is any suspicion of a traitor among them, these civilized people will tear each other into shreds. Deep Hatred and Exhaustion are truly an explosive mix, give them fire and they will burn themselves to the bedrock. Edit 2: Hey. If you need a reason for the alliance to get together, why not make one up? Aqua is dead but who knows what you squeezed out of him when he was dying? Give them lead vague enough and they might jump to their own conclusions. And best part? When there is diplomacy involved, stirring the pot just a little might make everyone boil~ And when chaos breaks out and everyone is running around like headless chickens? Well~ It's easy to get away with murder if entire building is on fire. Edit 3: And what if Queen is unconvinced? She will let all those who died to weapons Aqua sold be forgotten? Sahuagin wanted to dominate everyone and now with their advantage gone, they should pay the price. Slaughter the men, enslave the women, kidnap the children. Turn sand red and sky black. Make their blood seep into Tower Below and make their cries deafen angelic choirs in Tower Above!
Ehhhhhhhh. Seriously? How come everyone is so sensible? I was expecting a glorious debate, not a tea party! Oh well. I can still hope for something fun to happen later. P.S. I think Cherchiel could share Yulia with Lri a bit~
see? This wouldn't have been a problem if you two would have just married! Well, I wasn't really expecting this alliance to last anyway, keep it up until we are off the floor and I'm a happy camper Shall we go murder the fishpeople then?
I was hoping we could settle this peacefully, but our highest priority right now is to rescue Isalia. And that means joining forces with the Sirens and Mermaids to defeat the Sahuagin. The temporary peace between the two remaining factions will also be good for us. Once we've rescued Isalia, we can rest up a bit, and then head for the exit to deal with that huge whale. Based on what happened on the 5th floor, we might not even have to fight it. I'd also like to apologize to Lri, Yulia, and Cherchiel for the insensitive remarks of the other Voices. Lri and Yulia haven't known each other very long, and it's been a rough time for everyone, so it's totally understandable that you two wouldn't be interested in each other.
I hope the Queen won't do anything stupid and backstab the alliance the moment the fishpeople are defeated, but we do have to take the possibility into account. If only we could form a political alliance through marriage to avoid that, but alas. I don't think there is anything else to do, altough, I'd like to confirm if Lemiel is still with us, because if she is it might be worth it to get water breathing on her for that extra firepower. Well, perhaps we can use this opportunity to discuss our strategy? Our goal is to free Isalia as soon as possible if either the Siren or the Mermaid get their hand on her first they might use her as a bargaining chip, so our group should form a spearhead and quickly advance into fishpeople castle. Isalia is probably held in the throneroom, barring that we should find someone there who can point us in her direction. There is a decent chance that the fishpeople will use her as a hostage but I believe we have enough magic firepower at our disposal to deal with this should it come to that.
I agree, the throneroom is probably the most likely place to find Isalia, and she'll probably be a hostage. We should spearhead the attack to get in there quickly, but Goma will probably be our ace in the hole to deal with the hostage situation. Between Puppet and her healing magic, Goma should probably focus on making Isalia's captors let her go and attack each other, and approach to heal Isalia if they've hurt her.
Spearheading the attack means entire castle will be shooting right at you. Maybe go from the other side or look for hidden entrance? It will take a while for normal soldiers to get through the castle walls so there is almost no risk they get to isalia first.
Interesting to get specific numbers on the party vs the factions. Strong enough that we could upset the balance in any 1 v 1 conflict, but our presence doesn't mean much in a 2v1 one way or the other. Really goes to show what a powerhouse the previous Chosen was if she was able to beat these kind of odds. It would probably be worth it to use Identify on these guards to see whether physical or magical attacks are better against them. If magical, Yulia should just go with the usual barrage of offensive magic; if it's physical, she should focus on Energizing our frontline fighters (Cherchiel, Lemiel, and Lri) as well as our allies. For the frontline fighters, stay together, and position yourselves between the enemy and Yulia and Goma. Goma, save your mana for the next part of the battle, just blow the horn for our team and allies.
Uh engin, I think you missed Yulia's items and spells as well as the item section on this chapter. (the last few actually but this is the first I noticed) Now I'm wondering if the horn would have had an actual affect on all our allies Well, we are going to find out soon enough Starting out with identify is a good idea. but energizing is a bit of an issue since it's right now a massive drain on our mana (24% per use due to double mana cost) We do have mana potions but I rather not use them for these shmucks So, subtracting the 10% for identify at most we could use it three times, but since we have no idea how much Lemiel will be able to do this fight I rather use it only on Cherchiel and Lri and then make use of the remaining Mana to heal any of our allies who need it. Anyways Yulia, energize Cherchiel and Lri then hit the enemy group with a Blizzard followed by Force Lance and Icicle(or focus on heal if the enemy is magic resistant) Cherchiel go Boarchiel and just go wild on these fools Goma sound the horn and either puppet one of the guards(if no magic protection) or use heal on any ally who needs it.At any rate stay close to Yulia Lri, I also put you on protection duty Lemiel, well not sure what you are allowed to do here, so uhh, just do your thing
I think it'd be worth it to stay and help the Mermaids and Sirens advance. We'll be leaving the floor soon, and they're already planning their war against each other, so I doubt they could work together to betray our party. If one side did, the other would side with us, as we're at least strong enough to break a tie. It would ensure we have better odds against the king. However, if we left them behind, and one side broke in before the other, then we could be at risk of being betrayed. Our goal should be to keep the two sides balanced so we can play them against each other until we leave. That said, I think we should heal up Cherchiel, Lemiel, and Lri first, and then join in on defeating the remaining guards. It might be best to split our forces: Cherchiel joins the Mermaids in their fight to supplement them with physical strength, while Yulia uses Blizzard and offensive spells to aid the Sirens. Lemiel will join Cherchiel and Lri will help the Sirens alongside Yulia. Goma will still be conserving her mana (although she can help with the initial healing) but will be on standby with casts of Puppet to aid either side if things get bad. It's a bit risky, but if both fights end around the same time then we'll all be able to advance together and serve as checks on each other.
