I want to stress, I roll for where the wandering monster is each time a new post starts and it is pure bad luck that the roll decided he was heading to Dahlia's room while Yulia was in there. This was not planned and I did not intentionally set this up to force this option, but since it happened I absolutely capitalized on it to create a difficult choice for Yulia (Read: You guys to make on her behalf)

 

Well, crap. That was not part of the plan... at least now we know there really is a monster and Dreg wasn't making that up.

Refuse Dahlia's offer – running away now might result in you meeting Sower in an even worse situation. Better to stay and fight.

(in a lower voice, just in case Sower can hear the voices) Wait in ambush on the side of the door so that you can hit the monster with an icicle spell. Try to freeze him and if successful put that grenade to use.

Hopefully when you win Sower will be gone for good.

Yulia, I need you to take a deep breath and calm down. That thing appears to be quite big, it might not even fit trough the door. Even if it does try to squeeze trough it will make an easy target. I agree with fighting it, but I don't favor the ambush approach. jump behind Dehlias desk and ready your grenade. Chuck it the moment Sower wants to get trough the door.

Also, while you are at it, get an utility spell from Dehlia. If there is one of these monsters on every floor you will need a way to avoid them.

Well, I still like you Yulia no matter what fetishes you have. Let's just keep your fetishes as you wish to keep them, though I suppose through the magic of perspective, you'd never really be able to tell in the end. Hmm...

Though darling, that hardly matters, you seem to be in a one solution predicament. At least as far as I can tell, maybe I'm not too creative?See if you can't throw some of those poison gas grenades just before the door breaks, weaken the thing before he even really gets in here. Before that though, a trip wire trap may be in order, so he'll fall onto tjhe grenades you will throw and breathe them nice and deeply.

Alright, first inquire if you can exchange the Boar's head maul for one of Dahlia's wares at no additional cost. After that just proceed with exploring the floor. And yes, bring the maul along – heavy as it might be it might be of use later...

 

Sheesh, you made this more troublesome then it needed to be, but you got the job done, so I suppose I have to give you passing marks.

However, fighting is certainly not your forte and we need you to avoid as many confrontations as possible from her on out. Get an utility spell from Dahlia.

I doubt Dahlia will offer you anything of value for the mask and even if she does, I'm sure Alide will make us a much better deal.

After that, go back to the rest room and rest up before resuming your exploration. I would favor the cooking room as your next destination. Actually, you might as well shout into it on your way back, maybe Alide will answer you.

 

Part of me is tempted to write like an alternate sort of like... gallery mode thing that shows all the missed sex scenes... Especially for Sower. I was kind of really looking forward to potentially writing that scene

 

It's a chyoa. You can totally just write a "what could have happened!" off every chapter

I think if you do plan to add aditional stuff, you should wait for it until the story is finished.

 

I mean not sure if this is clear, but I don't technically intend to ever finish this really... After Yulia's run of the tower is complete, we start over and pick a new person and generate a new tower.

In that case, I'd auggest releasing the bonus content after Yulia is done.

 

Honestly I love writing this. In fact possibly to the detriment of other things even >.>

I might stop enjoying it so much at some point, but at the moment at least writing this is some of the most fun I have and I honestly find myself giddy whenever it's Sunday or Wednesday and I know that the next day I get to write the next post.

I wish I could write this daily, but that wouldn't give much time for suggestions to come in and would probably burn people out like super fast and the wait makes it so much more fun anyway even if it's also interminable waiting,

Also I'm probably going to make a supplement post to explain some of the basic behind the scenes mechanics going on just for people who enjoy that kind of stuff. How do I decide whether Yulia wins a fight or not for instance? Well... I will say that the voices suggested battle plans do have a major effect on her chances, but she's also gotten super lucky so far.

I was actually wondering how you would calculate the battle success, so that would be some pretty useful information. Nice to know, that my feeling that Yulia should stay the hell out of battles was correct tough lol

 

Yeah she is absolutely not meant for fighting. Though she does have a few tricks up her sleeve for fights she is forced into. Tricks she hasn't had to use so far thanks to luck.

Also the basic system for combat is as follows. Each enemy starts with a difficulty of 20, that difficulty is then lowered via various factors.

The enemies own physical or magical characteristics for instance.

To give an easy example

Here's how the fight with Sower was done.

Sower starts at 20 difficulty.

Sower loses no difficulty, because he's a physical powerhouse.

Sower loses 4 difficulty because of the poison gas grenade lowering him to 16 difficulty (Suggested attack method)

The use of the flak grenade lowers his difficulty by another 4 lowering him to 12 difficulty. (Suggested attack method)

Yulia's weapon is a makeshift club which lowers his difficulty by only 1 cause it's not a very good weapon and she's not a good fighter so doesn't get any sort of bonus.

Yulia rolls a d20 to see if she beats the difficulty and wins the fight. She rolled an 18 and won.

Now notably. If it was just Yulia using her club she actually would have lost since his difficulty would have been 19 vs the 18 she rolled, so the choices by the voices to use the grenades made a very big difference.

Now Moonblack did suggest using Icicle, but there wasn't really any back up on that strategy so it didn't get factored in since reading the suggestions the grenades definitely seemed like the favoured strategy.

Icicle would however have worked just as well since it still would have brought him down low enough for the 18 to win.

This system still leaves a lot up to chance, but proper planning and equipment severely increases the chance of victory and in some cases enough proper planning or equipment could even lead to scenarios where the enemy difficulty is equal to 0 making it impossible for her to lose or on the flipside improper planning and poor equipment or other factors could also increase enemy difficulty above 20 making it impossible for her to win.

 

Oh wow, and here I tought the grenade would be like an insta kill,

I also completely dismissed the weapons, thinking Yulia to be completely useless with them.


So, do I assume correctly that the Maul would be a better weapon compared to the club, or do we have to factor in the usability of it? Basically is there a hidden weight stat lol

 

The maul would be a better weapon, but Yulia's weakness will result in it being nowhere near it's full potential. Straight up. The maul would normally be like an immediate -5 to enemies, but in Yulia's unskilled hands it would be at best a -3 and that's if she's in a scenario where she'd be able to use it effectively, at the moment her just trying to use it in a fight it would give her a -1 because even though it's a much better weapon than the makeshift club it's also much harder to use than the club resulting in it being about as effective... I will be nice though and say... In the event her strength is increased even a little bit at some point it would immediately be a better weapon than the club and it won't effect her while in her inventory. Because I personally find inventory limits to be boring. Within obvious limits she can fit pretty much everything in her inventory without issues.

I'll leave the other voices to consider what to do now, but I see no harm in indulging in her "wares" so long as you don't overindulge.
