Since my introduction here on chyoa I wrote a few stories and some chapters. https://chyoa.com/story/The-Therapy-Center-of-Swamp-Point.20253 https://chyoa.com/story/The-old-manor-in-Swamp-Point.16402 https://chyoa.com/story/Welcome-to-pleasure-Island.12477 I love stories containing physical and mind transformation but I've been wondering something. What is better a quick transformation where it is over in the same chapter or a slow transformation containing a certain number of stage. I what to hear your opinion about it. For my part, it depends on the situation. If the story contains bad ends a quick transformation could be fine. In other cases, I prefer a multi-stage transformation, where the victim could become aware of their transformation and could try to stop it.
Quick transformations tend to stretch reader's disbelief, but the very suddenness of the change can be a benefit in that the user is shocked, confused, vulnerable, needing to come to terms with the rapid changes. It allows for much more intense, exaggerated emotional scenes, and then the focus can be on the aftermath - okay you're a girl/boy/futa/intersex now, how do you handle that? Slow transformations are often more rewarding for those that like to focus on the transition rather than the end state. When the transformation is the focus of the story, you can emphasize both physical and mental or behavioral changes, the long period of rejection and acceptance, emphasizing the process rather than a specific goal. For Lois Lane's Night Out, because of the nature of the story, quick transformations tend to be the norm - sometimes strung out in a series-of-transformations for effect - but for slower paced stories I think slow transformations are definitely more appropriate.
