Whether it be a celebrity or someone you know, have you ever named a character and then realized it’s a name of someone else? (And you didn’t intend to do so?)
I don't remember the details, but probably. The workaround is to always google a name after you come up with it. If the top search results are all some rando's blog, you're probably fine. If it's a celebrity gossip column, a news article, or someone else's fictional character, come up with a new name.
I’ve done it many times lmao. I try to go for different names and not have my characters have all the same names, and with that I’ve had moments where I really like a name and then realize later why I liked it… Here are some that I’ve accidentally used: Gabriella Montez Jordan Sparks Elizabeth Olsen Hunter Hayes Michael Scott Jason Todd Todd Howard Anthony Hopkins Tom Welling Troy Baker and those are just a few. I usually change it when I notice lol.
Reading that long list of names made me realize that, on this site, specifically, you could probably get away with just classifying the story as Celebrity.
Thanks to my predilection towards joke names I think I managed to avoid that fate so far. But I'm sure there is a Fisti Cuffs out there somewhere.
I don't always make up my own characters. But when I do, their names are shitty anagrams. Such as Fleur Gramuro, or Anny Torpedoes!
