The laptop flashes to life, a picture of a battery lighting up the screen, as it charges. Lawrence frowns. "Maybe. It seems that a few of the inherited companies are doing quite well - they're due to pay you a substantial sum in dividends soon, if they haven't already. For the life of me, I can't figure out what the companies actually do, though - it just seems like they make a profit from nothing. This kind of thing is common in business, I suppose, and I'm no forensic accountant, but something about it rubs me the wrong way."
"Err, no. It used to say a name, but it's blacked out now - I guess due to the retraction." Esmerelda frowns in frustration. "No way of know- hey!" The redhead gasps irritably as Sapphira pulls the phone out of her hand. "Seriously, Esme, you're so behind the times - never heard of the Wayback Machine? Here - the lieutenant's name is Max Chen, let me look him up. Hmm... Some true crime blogs have him working out of the Hotel Majestic downtown. They also mention he's not on great terms with the dragon head..."
"What? You don't suppose Oscar was using those companies for money laundering, was he?" Vanessa gasped, waiting for the laptop to get enough juice to boot up. She decides to check on the papers as well, "Have you ever heard of these comapanies?" She asked as she reads up the names, type of business they are, and how long Oscar has owned them.
With a sigh that was a combination of frustration, disappointment, and anger, Psychana moved into position to respond to whatever happened in the shop. While the emotional part of her wanted to take preemptive action, the rational part of her knew that until they actually committed a crime the three wouldn't technically have done anything wrong under the law. After all, putting on masks to enter a store wasn't illegal. Once she was in position, Psychana reached out with her mind to probe the thoughts of the men. Hopefully, before they did anything.
Nico shakes his head, keeping his torso as still as possible. "No, nothing like that. Lee invited me over after I finished recording. You both seemed trustworthy enough, so I joined him as a kind of celebration for being signed since I can't tell the...details to my family or outside friends." Smirking, he says, "I didn't expect to end up in bed with you two, especially as Calista." His smile fades into genuine kindness as he voice becomes quiet. "I'd never risk her career like that with someone I didn't trust. T-that was my first time with a guy, so thanks for making it feel...special."
"Quite possible. I've never heard of any of them in my life." He shakes his head. Vanessa sees that the companies are varied in those categories, but they all share one trait - she's never heard of them either. Still, from what she can see, all appear to be making her significantly richer than she already was.
Psychana doesn't have to wait long. After a minute, the shop's alarm begins to blare, and she hears the thugs beginning to scurry out the back into an alley.
"So, just a coincidence. Huh..." The pop star nods, squeezing his hand. "Well, you should thank Lee when he get back. I'm glad you thought it was special - I know that that version of Lee can be a little, uh, aggressive."
Immediately Psychana sprung into action, flying around to hover in front of them. "Do yourselves a favor-" she warned them "-drop whatever you took and wait for the authorities. One way or another, you're answering for your actions." the last she said while preparing a psychokinetic bolt to hurl at them.
"Tsk, these are risky." Vanessa clicks her tongue, "We'll have to investigate these thoroughly. Before they get traced back to us." She sighed, cursing at how many people are going to be digging into her affairs after this recent attacks. "So the Bell Tower. We'll need to watch that too. And 3:00, I suppose we should check in the afternoon, or in the middle of the night." She grumbles as she tries to boot up the laptop now that it's gotten a few minutes to charge.
"Shit, it's a costume!" The thugs stop mid run, firearms and a bag of loot in their hands. "Hey, I don't wanna shoot a woman, so why don't you just go find a cat to rescue from a tree or something?" He pulls back the hammer of his pistol, as Psychana feels the same calming presence that rescued her yesterday enter her mind. "Why fight, when someone could be hurt? These boys are just trying to get by. Why not...convince...them to give the loot back instead?
The password screen disappears, replaced by a homescreen. Searching the device, Vanessa finds among the games, porn and miscellaneous programs three files marked SCANS, PROCESSES and SUBJECTS.
Startled, Psychana took her attention away from the thugs momentarily. Who was that, where did it come from, why is it helping her all these questions and more ran through her head and she verbalized them or tried to. "Who- wha-?" she muttered aloud in confusion. But she knew she had to refocus and push all distractions aside. She couldn't consider what the voice suggested or where it came from. In the moment action was what mattered. And if the voice was concerned about people getting hurt... She summoned a ball of psychokinetic energy below the gunman's gun wielding hand and shot it upward in the hopes that the force of the impact would loosen his grip and cause the firearm to fly from his hand.
{huh... I thought she removed the choker... oh well.} Faye hissed lightly as she felt the woman's hand landing on her rear. "And using violence against your boss, uhm~ is what you call being a good secretary?" She moaned again, as she felt fingers slip into her snatch. Her legs gave under her, as she fell on the hood, her breasts pressing against the metal.
"Listen, girl, you shou-" The leader pauses, gasping, before his eye go wide. His gun goes flying, but strangely he doesn't seem bothered by it. As if on cue, his men drop their own weapons. If that's how you want it... Psychana clearly feels a power like her own possessing the men, making them dance like puppets on a string, as they rush toward her.
"I would say that it surprised me too, but I may have overheard him saying something about liking Calista once I tracked you down. I didn't act on that, though. It was all him." Nico nods. "I will. I noticed that he was holding himself back most of the night, and...it was nice to feel so wanted, especially--" He cuts himself off as his cheeks flush. Especially as a girl. After a moment to collect his thoughts, he asks, "Any idea how long the doctor will take to get here?"
(Oh, sorry, thought she kept it on - up to you.) "Yes - if her boss has been a bad girl." Crystal giggles, her fingers pressing inside Faye, stroking her words before finding her g-spot.
"What!?" Psychana uttered, startled again by the voice. As the men closed the distance, she hurled a number of psychokinetic bolts at them; confident those would drop them.
