Needing a way to deal with Yoko's Doomking, Julia is pleased to draw a second Dinomischus. If only she had the room to set it...Making room is simple enough. She activates the set Leanchoilia, relocating Spiritual Swords of Revealing Light from the void to the Graveyard so she can use it to buy more time if necessary. As part of the chain, the professor Special Summons Marrella and Canadia from the Graveyard to serve as mitigation for if things go awry. Finally, Julia sets the second Dinomischus in the backrow, setting the stage for ridding the field of that puffed-up snake. She keeps her last card in her hand for Dinomischus' cost. Still pissed off, Yoko bluntly sends the lamia to attack. Julia puts her set up into motion, activating Dinomischus to banish Balerdroch. The professor also takes the opportunity to Special Summon Leanchoilia. Unperturbed, the kistune proceeds to set a spell or trap and passes initiative back to the mortal woman. Spoiler: Turn 10 Julia 31=31 poor Yoko 16+10(Domain)-10(Taunted)=16 very poor [I don't know the paleozoic deck at all, so that took far longer for me to do than it should have.]
"Any party's 'shady' for people like you and me." The eyepatched girl warns. "A couple other friends of mine'll be there too. We'll go as a group. Look out for each other. All the usual shit." Michio assuages Felicia's fears. "Feel free to invite others if you want..." She says, giving the redhead a knowing smirk.
"Right, I'll keep that in mind." Felicia replied, unsure if her current circle of friends would be interested. Elisa was out of the question, Mia too, since she's too shy for it. Ixchel and Illiana might be interested, and Samir, might be interested too. I guess I'll try asking them when we bump into each other. She thinks to herself, though from the way Michio was smirking, the red-head figured inviting Samir was already in Michio's mind. "Speaking of duels, I don't suppose you've heard of a place to trade cards here? I've come across two powerful cards, sadly they don't fit my deck." Felicia asks a question as she slowly finishes up her meal.
[No, it's great! Adam's got a lot to address, and this is a very tense situation which deserves the extra attention to detail.] Spoiler: Perception Roll 32=32 fail Adam gets nothing from Castro. The woman must be good at hiding her emotions, or she knows enough that the idea the headdress is ancient doesn't surprise her. Spoiler: Deception Roll 15+10(Half-truths)+20(Poker Face)-40(Millennium Eye)=5 strong fail "Was this at the Duel Academy?" The Lieutenant asks, immediately followed by Merneith pressing harder for an answer. "I need a name, Adam. A description. Surely you can manage that if you had relations with her. Or do you want me to tear them from your mind...?" The purple-haired woman's heterochromatic eyes narrow and her voice hardens as she threatens the young man, stepping closer to the glass dividing them. "If you want to have any hope of leaving here anytime soon, you will be fully cooperative." Castro follows up, seamlessly doubling down on the other interviewer's belligerence.
"Fine, fine, don't get your panties in a twist." Adam sighs dramatically. "Yes, this was at the Academy. She...She had white hair." He begins. "Dark eyes. And she was well endowed - fantastic figure. And... I know it sounds stupid as hell, but I swear to God, or Horus, or whatever, that she was wearing a nun's habit - also white." He describes a girl, imagining himself fucking the nun on the chapel's pulpit and hoping the mental image confuses the Eye's power. "She said her name was Carley." Hell, maybe they'll even find the link between a nun and a chapel more convincing? He's perfectly willing to sell out the head of the corrupted nuns - unlike Haunani, he has no reason to give her any benefit of the doubt. "Just, don't hurt her." He adds with fake emotion, not caring what they do to her if they find her, and reminds himself to warn Felicia if he gets away.
Julia draws Dupe Frog, which doesn't help defeat the wall formed by the lone Charcoal Inpachi. Spoiler: Dupe Frog However, the use of her set Paleozoic should do the trick. She leads with Hallucigenia, halving the burned construction's ATK and DEF. As part of the chain, she Special Summons Dinomischus before attacking with Marrella. Yoko has other plans. The kitsune activates Return of the Zombies. Spoiler: Return of the Zombies She banishes Charcoal Inpachi and Special Summons Archfiend Zombie-Skull back to the field in Defense position. The replacement monster has enough DEF to withstand the assault, so Julia, seeing victory so near, activates Eldonia to get her Marrella over the defending creature. Sadly, Yoko also has a response to this in the form of Zombie Power Struggle. Spoiler: Zombie Power Struggle The fox-woman lowers the Marrella's ATK by 1000, rendering victory on this turn impossible for Julia to achieve. At least she forced her opponent to use up some resources, though that is little consolation for the 500 damage she receives from the deflected attack. Her LP sits at 3000. She sets Dupe Frog and ends the turn. Aside from drawing, the first thing Yoko does on her turn is activate Return of the Zombies' and Zombie Power Struggle's Graveyard effects, moving the banished Nine-Tailed Fox and Doomking Balerdroch into her deck and shuffling while the trap and spell are re-set on the field. Then, she activates a set Book of Life, banishing Ronintoadin from Julia's GY to Special Summon Uni-Zombie from her own. Spoiler: Book of Life As soon as the kitsune says the words "Synchro Summon," Julia activates Predaplanning, sending a Predaplant Flytrap from her deck to the grave, to decrease the levels of Yoko's cards to 1, preventing the fox-woman's plan. Spoiler: Predaplant Flytrap With her first idea foiled, Yoko switches Archfiend Zombie-Skull to Attack Position and battles. The Archfiend tears Leanchoilia apart, and Uni-Zombie barely catches Canadia before biting into the fossilized creature. Julia takes a total of 1400 damage from the attacks, lowering her LP to 1600. Spoiler: Turn 11 Julia 27=27 poor Yoko 37+10(Domain)-10(Taunted)=37 poor [Working with decks I don't know very well takes forever.]
"Uhh, I don't know if there's a place for just trading, but there's always the shop. You can try just asking around too." Michio considers for a moment before continuing. "What're the cards? I might be interested, depending on what they are."
[Very clever!] Spoiler: Deception Roll 7+20(Three-quarters truths)+20(Poker Face)-40(Millennium Eye)=7 strong fail "Last chance, Adam..." Merneith growls and raises her hand to the gleaming Eye on her forehead. "I will not hesitate to leave you a braindead husk if you will not give us what we want." Lieutenant Castro looks on unfazed, waiting for an answer which satisfies the truth-seer. [I'm so disappointed! That was a fantastic idea, and I really wanted it to work.]
"You use Shiranui's, a synchro focused deck. So I doubt they it. But anyway, they were Master Hyperion, and Amazon Empress." Felicia wondered if Michio will find the cards useful, "Still, I guess I'll go to the card shop later and check for myself." She sighed, not wanting to waste such powerful cards.
Spoiler: Willpower Roll D10: 8 "Do...whatever you think you have to do, Merneith. I'm not waking up one day and finding out that you killed this person because I blabbed about them." Adam shakes his head. (Thanks - it was convenient that there was someone with white hair that Adam didn't really care for, and the whole church nun thing was a nice coincidence. I hope you don't mind me doing a roll myself - I legitimately wasn't sure what would be the correct choice for his character.)
"You're right. They won't help me much." Michio sighs, disappointed. "I can use the Amazoness cards for that assignment for Itou!" She has a moment of inspiration. "See you, Felicia! I'm gonna go do that before I forget!" She runs off, presumably to her dorm or the library, leaving Felicia alone in the cafeteria.
"Glad... I could help..." Felicia replied, only to have Michio run away before she could finish. Hmm, speaking of that assignment. I still haven't picked which deck to base mine on. The red-head pondered as she slowly finished her meal. Let's see, I suppose I'll do some research on Tyrant's kin. She thought ti herself as she finishes up, wiping her mouth, and talking a light walk before her next class.
(Yeah, sorry for leaving you with all this work. I guess I just kind of fell out of my focus. If you don't mind me skewing things with a bit, I can make it a bit easier just to wrap this up faster?) Julia's life had taken damage, but she was still far from out of the battle just yet. The next draw was only a low level monster, but....she summoned it to the field. A strange creature that looked like some cross between a lizard and plant, no bigger than an average flower sprouted from the ground. "I summon predaplant Chilamydosundew. Fascinating species. Too bad we won't have time to properly talk about their evolutionary biology. It might be better to see it in action." "The species synthesises and bonds any creature exposed to it's spores, meaning anything with a predplant counter is fair game. Uni zombie might be decayed, but it's anatomy is still strong. The dead walk, but life marches on." In time with her point, the visible floral sprouting of vines and spores began to rise out of the wounds in the zombie's body...only for it to began to graphically melt as the lizard like plant let out a small roar absorbing the liquidizied zombie into it's roots. With another hiss, it lifted it's head before it's skin began to peel and it's color changed, morphing into a much larger creature. It's head letting out another roar, this time a booming one that almost split Julia's ears as it's wings unfurled. "History also involves looking at what will be. The predaplant's power is to evolve into the future. Starving Venom Fusion Dragon!" She point at Archfiend Skull. "When Venom Dragon, it can gain the attack of a special summoned monster while taking on the ability of a level 5 or higher monster! Venom's Dragon attack power becomes....5300!" The dragon locked eyes with the Archfiend, as the odd light sprayed from a trail of it's wings causing some sort of reaction that the fiend struggled against, as if the dragon was extracting something from it's body as the fusion dragon's body brightened into a brighter violet color radiating power. "Venom Dragon now has the archfiend's strength, and now that it reached the peak of it's evolution...." A mountain of plant like moves erupted, springing to life over the entirety of the dead land, becoming flush with life. "Once a predaplant monster is fusion summoned, banishing preadplanning destroys a card and in this case hitting your zombie world." "Venom Dragon-Attack Skull Fiend sending it back into the graveyard! This time, don't come back!"
[Yes...coincidence. I don't mind at all!] The pharaoh's hand covers the Eye. It radiates brilliant light. Spoiler: Spiritual Resistance Roll 69-40(Millennium Eye)=29 fail Adam remains conscious this time. He sees Merneith methodically flitting through his memories of the past week, calling and dismissing them at incomprehensible speed until she finds the relevant handful. The experience is incredibly disorienting as the scenes fly past his conscious mind one after the other as if he was recollecting them himself. "The description and name he gave are lies." She informs the Lieutenant. "The woman's name is Haunani Wen. She has white hair, blue eyes, and has a lithe build. She's a Ra Yellow at the Duel Academy. Tends to dress in their uniform or in black clothes which show much of her skin. She seems to favor the Blue-Eyes Dragons." Merneith steps back from the glass, giving Castro an intense look. "She sees visions." "I guess you'll be staying for a long while, Adam." Castro taunts the Frenchman as he recovers from the staggering ordeal, going from pounding Haunani to being bound in a high-tech cell. "I need...to rest." Merneith is unsteady on her feet and her face is flushed.
Adam groans, assaulted by a powerful wave of nausea as he feels like his stomach has turned in on itself. He staggers, and has to lean against the wall not to fall on his ass. "I...tend to have that effect on women." Adam grins, trying to mask his worry for Huanani and the feeling of...violation he just endured through bluster. "If you saw my memories of Huanani, you also saw what we did together?" Looking at the way her tanned skin flushes, he grins. "I'd say that rest isn't what you need after that." I need to get the fuck out of here! He thinks to himself, panicking internally
While out on her walk enjoying the sunlight, Felicia spots Iliana coming the other direction. She appears to be fully alert for once, her eyes lacking that glazed over, half-asleep look they've had on the other occasions the redhead's seen her.
[It's fine. It just takes me longer than I thought it would.] In response to the summoning of Venom Dragon, Yoko chides. "I hope you have another trick in mind. I activate Return of the Zombies, banishing the 'future' to call forth the chilling past!" Julia's Fusion monster is consumed by a ball of red, crackling energy. The red light then proceeds to resurrect her Chlamydosundew while the Venom Dragon is lost to the darkness. [Predaplanning starts a new chain, so Yoko could just add it to that one instead if there's a timing issue with using Return in response to the summon.]
"God-well the fusion is not negated, so preadplanning still destroys zombie world again! Suck it!" Julia's words were coming out much faster and childish. Yoko wasn't making this easy, but archfiend still had a predaplant counter on it.....the idea of success wasn't out of the question and with the monster in defense position while it would most likely be destroyed next turn, she still could banish the swords from the graveyard to protect her lifepoints. But.. "Mngh! Dammit!" Julia gave a deliberately more vocal performance. The kitsune was a trickster and used to deception, so if she saw Julia looking actually worried, her hope was that Yoko would overthink it and choose to stall, simply because it looks too obvious that she wants to get attacked. Doing her best bad "bad" acting, as she could call it, she widened her eyes as she shook grabbing her cards intentionally being overdramatic as possible. Her acting was just so horrible, Yoko could be led to thinking she was bluffing badly...it was only the kind of mind games that could be played with a very specific person, and luckily, Yoko was one of those. "It wasn't supposed to be like this!"
Spoiler: Deception Roll 10+20(Poker Face)-40(Millennium Eye)=-10 crit. fail Adam knows that his face betrays his disgust and fear. Lt. Castro wears a predatory smile. "Ending recording...there." She announces. Spoiler: Charm Roll 71+10(Attractive)+20(Dominating)-40(Millennium Eye)-10(Failed roll)=51 weak success As he flirts with his captors, the young man sees Castro's smile turn into a grin. "He's right, Merneith." The Portuguese woman says to the other interviewer. "You could use a good lay. So, was he any good with the other girl?" Merneith audibly sighs. "I'm going to my quarters. Don't get caught again." The increasingly red-faced woman with the Millennium Eye turns and walks down the long hallway, eventually exiting the bright, white corridor through the door opposite Adam's cell. "Lie down, Adam. It'll be easier for you if you comply." The lone woman's voice crackles through the intercom.
