Resisting her urge to do things her way, she still knew she needed to have her commanding officer like her at least a bit. She'd just prove in battle that it wouldn't have mattered anyway during the proper attack. "Then we should mobilize quickly."
Rina bow her head and follow her mistress inside tower. She had a lot of questions but she keep her curiosity at bay, to not anoyed sorceress.
As she looked around, Icena noticed various tones and artefacts lying around on stands - weapons, artefacts, jewellery and some things that she could not identify. The room was tidy. The study was exclusively Mistress Crystal's domain and no one was allowed to use it without her permission and supervision. The books were too far for Icena to understand the titles- "Did something catch your attention?" Crystal asked not turning back from her paperwork.
As he said that he noticed that his fellows shifted a little, tightening their ranks. "Get ready..." He heard Slate say quietly, but she did not change her pace. A few grunts were the answer. As he looked at the forest, he noticed shadows moving here and there.
Mise hummed as she looked over the area. "There are the supplies..." She silently pointed at one of the tents. "There are quite a few guards looking over it. A command tent in the centre of camp." She hummed. As Mise noted one position after the other, Juno noticed something else - a trail leading from the camp.
The two made their way inside the tower and started walking up over the stairs. The silence was broken, as Izana addressed Rina. "You seem to have questions..." She noted. Rina heard that some powers allowed sorcerers to look into someone's soul, but to experience it, was something else. It was as if she had no secrets in front of her. "Ask away." The sorceress all but commanded.
The moment she was spoken to Icena's attention instantly focused on her Mistress. “Nothing yet, Mistress.” She replied, deciding to end her examination of the room for now.
Rina take a deep breath, thinking which question should ask first. There is so many of them. "Something special happen, isn't? Some rare event happen in the world and it demands of you mistress your reaction. To gain more power... Or to not lose to someone." She said thinking about next question. "What about this special technique? It is something to use magic?"
Although unsure of what exactly they were about to fight, Valerian took a combat stance and prepared to defend himself against whatever was coming their way.
"Yet?" Crystal hummed as she finally put down the quill and looked at Icena. "Were you searching for something specific?" She asked curiously as she got up.
Izana was quiet for a few moments as thy walked, before finally speaking. "King Onaga has died. The old order has come to an end. A chaos starts as various contenders fight for the throne of Outworld. This... is a very dangerous time. One mistake, might cost us our lives." She turned to Rina. "So, we can't afford to make mistakes." Her tone was final.
"Ahh!" There was a scream behind, then something moved past his vision - a spear impaled the man that was walking next to Valerian, killing him instantly. There were more screams as warriors ran out of the forest and started engaging guards of caravn in combat.
"So...I asume you wouldn't waiting for the winner to show up in this game? I bet you not let such fate leave to accident, my mistress." Rina said as she folow Izana.
“No, nothing in particular, Mistress. I was just curious since I have never taken a long look at this place. I wanted to see if anything in particular would stand out to me.” Nothing did, though whether that was because the more valuable stuff was not out in the open, or because she lacked the knowledge and wisdom to recognize the true value of the things she had seen, Icena did not know. “Anyway, you ordered me to come and see you. What do you require of me, Mistress?”
Time to earn his keep. Valerian turned to face whoever threw the spear at the man next to him and prepared to attack whoever or whatever it was.
“Pathway there.” She noted it, aiming to contribute a bit though she kept her eyes more honed on the officer tent half hoping to get a glimpse of who looked the most important to defeat. Perhaps, it would be better to come back with the main force. If they killed them now with nobody to witness it, they’d just assume that she’d be lying. In front of everyone’s eyes, her status wouldn’t be able to be denied.
Izana looked at Rina sharply. "You would assume correctly." She turned forward. "In order to survive, we need to either win or align with the winner." She hummed. "But we are not in a position, to take on the big warlords."
The woman nodded. "Indeed. I will be going out this evening, and you will be accompanying me as my escort." Crystal stated.
As Valerian turned he noticed a man charging a several warriors charging at them - one of the men, were specifically aiming at him. Spoiler: attacker As he approached he jumped, attacking with a kick. Spoiler: Combat Valerian Health 6 Stamina 11 Bandit Health 3 Stamina 9 Actions Kick,?
"So, which one of the competitors do you think have biggest chance of winning? Or maybe you should support someone who is too weak to do it on it own and in that way he would be more in debt to your support mistress."
