So this could go into story ideas but I think it maybe fits here better.

Since I have become completely disillusioned with Literotica I have been thinking about ways to "move" my writing completely over to here. Including the stories that don't fit into the standard CHYOA format.

What I have come up with is a story(Most likely called "Experiments & Shorties) that is made up completely, or nearly completely, of "one-shot" stories. I would most likely leave it completely open for people to add stories with the understanding that stories are standalone and don't continue from someone elses post.

I don't know if that sounds interesting to people, I already have a few stories ready to be "ported over" from Lit so I can finally be free of that fucking site.

    So thoughts?

I don't like story collections as there is probably more difference between the single stories than in a story which branches out. (And I don't like to get notifications for something I'm not interested to read)

For short stories with only one chapter, you might not get much attention in the recently updated section.
Though, on the other hand, posting each one as a single story would place it in the new story section for a few days and having a [completed] tag in the title could lead to some extra attention. Additionally, each story would have an own cover picture (though you could also include them at the beginning of the chapter...)

Well... I still don't like story collections...

I think on a site like CHYOA it would be annoying for people to have someone publish a single chapter and that would be it.

It would also kinda feel like you are cheating people in a way "Yes it is completed but that is because there is only one chapter".

Breaking the story down into sections might make it more Chyoa friendly. You can still post the story in a linear style but it would allow others to break the story off in other directions. Though Chyoa is about choice many of the longer stories are straight paths with a few authors branching off from the main story.

May I ask what has angered you so greatly about Literotica?

There needs to be some commonality. Perhaps have the same main character (change names in them?) or overarching theme. I have that with my interracial story which I make a bunch of short branches for various ideas.

Mainly it's just the fact that they basically make no effort to actually improve the site or really do anything to improve it. I mean it took them several years to overhaul the user account page, there are no ways for stories to really be promoted beyond when you initially publish them.

No to mention they are pretty much completely silent when it comes to communicating with people at all about what they are doing.

Basically, I just find this site better in almost every way.

See that's the thing, the point is that there isn't commonality. That it is basically more of a collection of short stories with the only common factors being erotica and the fact that they are very short.

I think I might throw up a few of my better one off stories as a experiment and see how people react

What if you wrote a story about stories. Think of a loose framing device like exploring an erotic library, friends telling each other sexy stories.

There would be a few sentances expaining what the story is about than the option to read or keep looking.

Yeah you could do that, hell one of my short stories is basically that in a way.

I'm currently writing just such a story to house stories i wrote for other site. All i did was set up a premise that it's a lifer telling the guard and another lifer stories to pass the time of day ( https://chyoa.com/story/Let-Me-Tell-You-A-Story.14302 ). I find if you connect one story to the last with bridge like i do more people will not realize that they are reading a stand alone story!

Well, you're not going to Internet Prison if you do it.
Maybe you could split the stories up into chapters whenever a diversion in paths seems possible? Maybe someone else can take the preexisting stories in a parallel direction to your original plotline...
