I have had pretty much nothing but good experiences with you guys since I joined the site, but I wanted to ask if you guys have any interactions that stand out as really good or really bad.
Well, as I've just discovered reading back over my old reviews on another site, I'm kinda abrasive and argumentative, so I think I should probably be counted out of this one all around as an aberrant data point. EDIT: Though I will say that my FIRST public moderator interaction here still brings a smile to my face every time I run across it...
I can't say that anyone's ever been anything but polite and friendly to me around here. The most heated discussion I've ever had was about the appropriateness of illustrations in stories, and it certainly never got personal. This is actually the friendliest MB I've ever been on.
I've only had the one bad experience and even that was handled fairly in my eyes. Most of the writers here who has added to my stories really helped advance the story in a direction I didn't consider taking it. Hell I feel that 11Kestrels is the reason "Jailbait" ( https://chyoa.com/story/Jailbait.12406 ) garnered the reads it gotten!
I limit my interactions with other authors a lot. But the times I do it’s basically to say “awesome job and thanks for adding to my story”. I did have a good back and forth with @Artican for a while. I’d like to collaborate more with people who helped a few of my other stories like @Lake_Nine and @moonblack. As far as other shout outs go @Cantalope and @Javalar are two writers who I have been inspired by, but haven’t done much collaboration with. There has only ever been a few bad interactions I’ve had with people through comments, forums, and PMs. People have been upset about my mind control stories and a few people have asked me to write stuff I don’t want to do. Typically I don’t respond.
I have to give a shoutout to @Duskford for being an all-around cool dude. He liked my original story so much he wanted to be a part of it, and to have such a large name be interested in your work is always a fun thing.
Ok, Since we're floating checks and naming names I'm going to throw a paper airplane to the edge of the world and hope the person receives it. @GenericEditor168 : You're the closest thing I have to a best friend. I would not be the writer I am today without you, so, thanks.
