I've discovered a few by accident as well. On one of my threads, Gavin wrote a note to Heather and Zack. If I remember right, I think I hit tab twice (Don't quote me on that though. It's been a while since I wrote the thread), thinking that it would indent the text. When I saved the thread the text was in a box, like the reader was looking at an actual note.
maybe I haven't read enough comments but seems like After the party has gotten way more trolls than I've seen in this story. Am I wrong about that?
The Afterparty got more, how should I say, "demanding" comments, I think. If you write certain things there, it's almost certain you'll get flamed. I try to read the comments on every thread posted on "At The Cabin", and I don't really remember someone insulting an author or calling the thread shit like it happens there sometimes.
Every so often, a story brings together such a varied group of readers that not everyone is happy with the path it takes. Many offer constructive criticism when leaving comments on threads that aren't their cup of tea. Others take a less than courteous approach and rip apart anything by anyone that isn't them. The good thing about the new site is that when someone leaves a comment, you know who left it. The only way to know who left a specific comment on the old site was if they "signed" their name when they wrote it. Naturally, most comments were anonymous and some people went way beyond flaming. I was getting flamed on threads that were written five years before the comment was left. Some people were so bad that their accounts were blocked. One guy even got banned. When I first joined the new site, I spent about a month or two editing my old threads, as I wasn't quite sure what to expect.
So, I haven't been around here to discuss my main thread for some time. What do you guys think about Colin's story about Ryan and Ryan's cousin being the ones wearing the bear suits, is it true or is it possible that Colin's trying to fool everyone? What about Emily, did you like her? And the mysterious person watching everything through the cameras, is he the one financing the fake bears? Moving to the main characters, what's everyone's opinion on the attraction that's developing between Zack and Ashley? Will it last? Is it possible that our intrepid hero will not be able to fully get over Victoria and Heather despite saying otherwise?
On Colin- I took a gamble in my main thread that he was behind the costumes, that's why I chose him to go after the Det. wife. That said, it was never my intention to create my own mystery but only to reference your's. So if he isn't I'll adjust. I'm sadly so far away from that point anyway. Do I believe him? not sure. such a crazy scene that I don't know what to think except I'm looking forward to the next few scenes. I haven't seen enough of Emily to have a definitive opinion but I like her so far. As to who is watching through the cameras my best guess has been Heather's uncle (1) her dad (2) though I considered the latter less likely after the recent exchange with Gavin. Also contemplated that someone connected to Zack was behind it given Heather's dad's reaction to him but that is probably way off. I like Zack and Ashley . I enjoyed Vain's 2nd thread where he really built them as a thing. In my own main thread I've gone back and forth between whether it would be her or Vicki that Zack would end up with. I've certainly tried to lay the groundwork for that relationship and I think there is a chemistry there that neither has explored and both would have a hell of a lot of fun exploring. In your thread, could he get over Heather and Vicki? That's tough. I can see them hooking up for sure. I think from what you have written they both want it. But would it just create a bigger mess in his head? I don't know. Maybe it would create clarity for him.
Thanks for the feedback, henrytemp! I guess it won't be long until we see if Colin is telling the truth or not, but that scene at the ranger station will get even crazier, I'm having a bit of trouble to write it down exactly as I'm envisioning it in my head, that's why it's taking so long for me to post the follow-up. I'm building Emily as a rival to Jennifer, a complete opposite; their squabble will come to a peak in one of the chapters from the sequel. Robert and Daniel are good guesses for being the mystery man, and even Robert can be a suspect, remember he could have lied to Gavin. My view on Zack and Ashley is that, had they been introduced as soon as Taylor and Hannah became friends, they would be the power couple of the story by now, with nothing capable of breaking them up. But, seeing as they were introduced much later, only two years before the story, and with a long previous relationship on Ash's side, can a new one with Zack last? It's up in the air, I guess what I'm doing with the relationships at this stage of the story is the following: it's a theme in which everyone starts questioning if the person they've been dating/crushing on is the right person for them. Zack is slowly putting the mess that was the triangle with Vicky and Heather behind him to maybe pursue something with Ashley. On her end, Ashley has been questioning since the beginning if Brandon is the right guy for her, and now that they broke up, she may have found someone more compatible to her in Zack. Brandon has been rediscovering an old attraction to Victoria, and his lack of finesse may very well push her into something she isn't ready for, now that she decided to get over Zack and Dustin. Heather is still in construction, but she still wants Zack, apparently, even after she had a powerful experience with another woman, Leah. As for Chloe and Gavin, something that they do on "At The Cabin"'s end will be their plot on the sequel. Kurt will fulfill a fantasy he didn't even know he had, and then he won't appear too much on the sequel.
Damn that last scene was hot. Although I really don't want Vicki/Brandon together or to get together, that was a hot build-up.
Thanks! I don't really see Brandon and Vicky as an endgame couple either, just as two people who could have a lot of fun together before going their separate ways. Of course, that may change as I continue to write the story.
and I didn't mean to make any push on where you should take your thread, my point was, "Even though i don't want these two together, you wrote an amazing scene so if it happens, damn you made it good"
I got your meaning, henrytemp, don't worry. I just wanted to clarify I have a similar opinion to yours when it came to Brandon and Victoria.
I just recently decided to go through this story and I have to say I really liked the Vain story string. I was going to add to starting at the day 6 break, but realized the backstory I was wanting to use wasn't actually in his string. Would it be preferable for me to add a redux string, add a new redux story, or just write it up as a straight story and publish on asstr?
Hey, umbra, glad you liked the story! Well, I'd prefer if you didn't post a story with my characters on another place, but having said that, I'd ask if you can tell us more about the background you have in mind, so we can help you to find a spot on the Story Map to start. Cretan_Bull14 also changed a few things about the characters' backgrounds on his threads and it worked really well.
No asstr and that was why I asked. Mostly it was finding vain's string compelling and wishing someone would continue but the conversation I had planned for Ash and Vick was actually based on some if the backstory from the Zack and Heather threads. So I went back through looking for the best fit and I realized the direction I'd like to see was blended from a lot of different threads. For me to have constancy within my head I'd need to start near the beginning. I'll type up my alt beginning and post it in this thread hopefully by next weekend and you can let me know if you want me to add it to yours or just start anew.
Ok, I'm looking forward to read what you have planned then. You can post it directly on the story when you have it ready, no need to start a new story.
