That would be kind of a misc category.

Not sure if that would be good in terms of implementation.

I think that is a very important point.

Is FFM with FF straight or bi?

    From my experience:
FFM with FF -> Most men would like it while a lot of women would dislike it.
MMF with MM -> Most women wouldn't mind while a lot of men would dislike it.

And I could imagine that a good share of Lesbians wouldn't like FFM content.

If the concept of two branches diverges so much from each other, I think it might be better to start another story and "advertise" them with a link in the introduction. Otherwise, you rather get a story collection story.

    Changes:
    - added Male Bi
    - added Female Bi

Do they make sense like that?
Don't most "Straight" stories feature some amount of Female Bi?

I looked up the historical time periods and it says "Modern Age" for the time since 1453. That's also about the time when firearms became a thing.

    Changes:
    - added the name option "Modern Age" to "Contemporary"
    - added the name option "Modern Age Fantasy" to "Contemporary Fantasy"

    Would that fit better?

I think adding a "Bi" preface is actually a really good solution, yeah! That solves the lot of it, since it's then dependant on the main character and leaves room for pretty much all outcomes. I think most stories featuring some amount of going both ways is probably true, but this is a really nice solution for the stories that are basically equal parts either way.

I'm also all about that contemporary change, but that's still just a personal thing of thinking it fits better and seeing that the two options were a sort of unanswered question so far, with both options up in the air. So no real heavy pressure on that one!

That sounds right. I find firearms are a surprisingly good benchmark.

What are you basing this on?

That's a very broad generalisation of stereotypes.

I'm guessing that statement is for straight people, i.e. a straight man would not be aroused by two men having sex.

    Exactly.

From statements and reactions of heterosexual friends and partners.
This, of course, comes with all the flaws of picking up other people's opinions.

    Changes:
    - removed Contemporary Fantasy and Modern Fantasy from Modern Age Fantasy
    - adjusted the definition of Modern Age Fantasy
    - adjusted the definition of Classical Fantasy

I'm still not sure about Classical Fantasy, especially since I've noticed that Classical refers to Greek and Roman times.

For Modern Age / Contemporary, maybe something like "Real World" would be better.

I can see why you'd come to that conclusion, to a certain degree we can only follow our own experience. I'd offer though that it's not that simple, especially on a site such as CHYOA with a wide variety of Fetish preferences. I'm just one example of a heterosexual man who writes and enjoys MMF as much as FFM, I'm sure I'm not alone. MMF/FFM is not necessarily about gender/sexuality preferences, there's power dynamics and all sorts going on here. For example, MMF does not automatically suggest homosexuality. 'Most women prefer MMF' - a hell of a lot of straight women have FFM liaisons without any aspect of lesbianism.
This is not a criticism by the way! Just exploring your statement and what it means to the proposed changes.

Just for the record: I didn't say that.

    That's right.
    But the MM in
means homosexuality. (See my remarks about homosexuality at the end.)

    MMF can be
    M-F-M or
    M-M-F or
    F1-M1-M2-F1

It's pretty interesting that you are naming women here and I could imagine you've done it for a reason.
And that is basically the same as I expressed in the exact wording of the two statements.
-> It's more common for women as there is more social acceptance.

I also think this is some kind of discrimination because of history.

Polyamory with one man and more (straight) women is a concept that is rather accepted.
But it is rather unheard of relationships with one woman and more (straight) men.

I used the phrase "Sexual Orientation" with only having "sexual attraction" in mind.
For me, that is very different from "romantic attraction."

    And so...
... I could imagine having sex with someone of the same sex but I can't at all imagine having a same-sex relationship.

So I would further use the term "homosexual" for sexual attraction and "lesbian/gay" for romantic attraction.
I also think that calling a gay man a homosexual is derogative as it reduces him to his sexuality.

So I think that sexual orientation should focus on sexual attraction and not romantic attraction.
