I assume that this has something to do with the ajax log in procedure. Can you tell me which browser and operating system you're using? And have you tried logging in on another browser?
Currently I am using Opera on Win8.1; I also tried other browsers (both Chrome and Firefox), in vain. I copied the exact error message I have, here it is: "An error occurred. Please try again later." Nothing else. Help me, if you can edit: I also tried from Firefox on my mobile phone: still unable log-in edit #2: I don't know what changed, but eventually today I could log-in. Great!
I don't really know if it's a bug, I don't even know if this is the right forum category to post this, but when I bookmark a customizable story, close my browser and open it again later, all the names have been reset to the default names... that's not supposed to happen, is it?
I don't think the customizable names are preserved across browser sessions. While reading a long story, that could be annoying. Maybe worth a feature request?
In the old version it did preserve the names, but maybe that has changed. I guess I'll post it as a feature request then. Thanks for the tip.
I've been trying to give a user (Jappio) author rights to one of my stories (The Blushing Rose), but it doesn't work. When I start entering a name into the box, a list of names appear, but if I type in the full user name, Jappio doesn't appear on that list. If I so much as click anything else, the box where I enter the username is cleared, even with the user name entered. Clicking the plus sign immediately after entering the username, also does not add them. I'm not sure why it's happening. It appears that I can add other users with no issue. It doesn't seem to be related to whether or not they've contributed something, as Jappio added two parts (that I approved), and it looks like I could add other users who haven't contributed anything if I wanted. I've tried doing this in Firefox, Chrome and IE, using different browsers produces the same result.
You can only give editing or author rights to users who have activated their account. In other words, they have to confirm their email address first. With the update today every user who hasn't received an activation email can now resend the activation link or update their email address. In this case, I've activated Jappio's account manually. So you should be able to add him now.
Latest posts seem to be green instead of blue. I'm guessing the unread post colour is taking precedence over the new post colour.
Unread always has priority over edited, since you don't really care if it was recently edited if you didn't read the old version in the first place.
I can't view my favorites via https://chyoa.com/list/favorites. I can view my favorites via the drop-down menu at the top of the site, but I otherwise I can't even look at them otherwise. Every time I do it just ends up on a page that says "Whoops, looks like something went wrong." I have no idea why. I've never been able to view my favorites since I moved from the old chyoo onto this site. I don't know if this info helps but one of the one of the stories I Favorited has been deleted so I can't unfavorite it, maybe that's causing an error? What can I do?
But then how will I know which threads are current and which ones are dead when I start reading a new story?
For threads which were created after the move to chyoa.com, you can see the edit? date on the right side of the story map. Threads without a date are from the old chyoo page.
Very recently, all chapters that don't have a timestamp, as in created in old chyoo, are all marked as Read for me, even if I've never opened the story before, but also for stories I have read some in before the bug started. From what I gather, chapters created in old chyoo and since updated show as the blue Updated status. It toke me a couple days to realize that was how it worked. Please tell me you can do something to fix this and restore the status of all chapters I've not seen to Unread, because things being this way recently makes keeping track of actually read threads quite messy.
Apostrophes in titles aren't displaying correctly in email notifications (true of both the subject line and the body text). Gmail screenshot:
I'm getting the age/entry confirmation overlay popup with every single page load on the main site. It occurs across multiple browsers and platforms, and logging in/out doesn't have any noticeable effect.
