@OccasionalReader wasn't that the exact plot of the Dexter's laboratory episode (the one I'm pretty sure you're referencing)? He gets stuck only able to say 'omelette du fromage' and every girl starts swooning over him because French is 'the language of ~love~'.

Though the implication anything is French is automatically sexy is really funny because imagine getting hit on at a club and the pickup line is "Bonjour, petite crossaint~"

@GyroscopicGraphite a complete meme to me simply because when I hear omelette du fromage I simply hear cheese omelet XD

Anything remotely sexy about French is kinda lost on me simply by merit of being able to understand it

@OccasionalReader It's kind of like a reverse language barrier, in that the intrique and draw of a different language is lost thanks to speaking that language.

That being said, pastries and baked goods (and eating in general) seem to be very popular picks for innuendos and pickup lines. Probably something to do with linking food (basic need) to sex (both primal urge and sophisticated practice).

Now that I think about it, it's REALLY common to use food as a pet name. Things like muffin, cupcake, cake (as in ass), honey, sweetie, et cetera, et cetera. Certain foods like strawberries tend to get thrown in there too, so referring to your partner as a strawberry shortcake or an apple pie is actually more common and more complementary than you'd think.
