The marines, the majority struggling to adapt to their new gender must survive with what little resources the fleet dropped to them before departing, against native fauna, mostly automated defences and resource harvesting drones and the aliens already in situ who were similarly affected before calling a halt to their colonisation. Can be adapted to various genres of sci-fi. The aliens could be warhammer space Orcs or star trek Klingons. The aliens may have used it as a penal planet, dropping the worst of their kind in one way landing pods to populate the planet and load automated resource shuttles in return for supplies dropped to them. The percentage of those affected can be altered 50%-90% depending on inclination. Possibly there might even be a way to fool the virus, send ten feminised marines off alone and some might revert to male due to the same pathogen ensuring they are optimised to breed and multiply?
