DOOMED

Well, there is the fact that it's a bit slower-paced in that I don't have her one her knees sucking a random cock within five chapters.

Yeah, I suppose that could be a factor. But I like the slow build-up to corruption, as we've discussed in the past. It makes the pay-off more weighty.

Thinking about doing a little monthly "state of the story" post, but the details are pretty straightforward:

There are 571 chapters.
The longest branch is 31 chapters deep.
There are currently 377 chapters to be written.

I'm traveling this weekend and all next week, so updates will probably be more sporadic. Good chance to get caught up if you want to archive-binge a couple branches!

Back from my trip, and there was less time to write than I imagined. Am currently getting back into the swing of things and building up a small lead. Might not get a chapter up tonight, but I will start posting again tomorrow, and normal service will resume from there.

I know progress on this seemingly slow, but I consider it steady. Pornographic marathon, not a race. Honestly didn't expect the ongoing popularity.

Bit of travel over the next few days, so updates will probably be sporadic. You get what you pay for.

There are 667 chapters. (+96)
The longest branch is 32 chapters deep. (+1)
There are currently 452 chapters to be written. (+75)

I'm thinking when chapters-to-be-written hits 500 I'll raise the threshold again, just to keep the number manageable. I don't want to start capping branches yet.

The backlog is over 500...which is a sign of healthy interest in the story, but depressing in that it will take forever to finish the story. Debating what to raise the threshold to. 15/30 would be a bit excessive, not that readers would see any immediate difference.

Anyway, folks seem to be getting into the groove of the slightly slower plot pace compared to Lois Lane's Night Out, the whole corruption angle, the relationships, at least if the comments are anything to go by. Anyone have any particular thoughts?

I need to refiddle the numbers, but for right now the thresholds have moved from 10/20 to 15/25. In practice, that means readers will be seeing more progress on continuing existing branches, and fewer new branches. I still haven't set a threshold for endings, but we'll play it by ear for a while. No rush. It might not be my best work, but readers seem to like the tone and pace so far.

Okay, no major fall-off in likes or comments so far.

There are 739 chapters. (+72)
The longest branch is 32 chapters deep. (+0)
There are currently 272 chapters to be written. (recalculated)

State of the story:

There are 795 chapters. (+56)
The longest branch is 33 chapters deep. (+1)
There are currently 271 chapters to be written. (-1)

Comments are steady, but likes have fallen off a bit. That's probably to be expected, though it makes me worry the plotlines or sexy chapters aren't engaging enough. The lack of archive-binges suggest the story isn't really gathering new readers, which happens. Still, lots more to write! This story is far from over.

I'm starting a major new project for Halloween, but I'm going to try and keep DOOMED going steadily at 2-chapters-per-day.

State of the Story:

There are 858 chapters. (+63)
The longest branch is 33 chapters deep. (+0)
There are currently 269 chapters to be written. (-2)

I know some folks aren't happy about the pace on some branches, but that's what you get from a likes-driven story. More popular branches get the new chapters, I'm trying not to push out terrible do-nothing chapters or blah sex scenes. How well I achieve that goal, only you can say.

State of the Story:

There are 923 chapters. (+65)
The longest branch is 33 chapters deep. (+0)
There are currently 285 chapters to be written. (+16)

Bit of a spike in likes this month; couple folks did an archive binge on a couple branches.

State of the Story:

There are 1,000 chapters. (+77)
The longest branch is 34 chapters deep. (+1)
There are currently 302 chapters to be written. (+17)

Bit of a spike in interest this month. The story is chugging along, although not every branch has the same energy. I'm going to keep at it in 2026, see how the response is. If you've been keeping up with it, thanks for reading!

State of the Story:

There are 1,064 chapters. (+64)
The longest branch is 35 chapters deep. (+1)
There are currently 322 chapters to be written. (+20)

Not falling behind so much as slowly increasing in popularity, which leads to archive binges, more likes, and more chapters to write. If it hits 500 I might have to recalibrate the thresholds again, but for now I'd like to keep it where it's at. People seem happy (or at least, not displeased) with current storylines, as most of the comments are suggestions for the next chapter.

State of the Story:

There are 1,122 chapters. (+58)
The longest branch is 35 chapters deep. (+0)
There are currently 322 chapters to be written. (+1)

Fairly stable. I notice the longer branches don't get the most attention - this was the same for Lois Lane's Night Out - and I suspect this is just a reflection of how folks are more likely to Like earlier chapters, which leads to branch proliferation rather than branch depth.

State of the Story:

There are 1,182 chapters. (+60)
The longest branch is 35 chapters deep. (+0)
There are currently 390 chapters to be written. (+68)

A couple of archive bingers have led to a spur of likes, hence the larger number of chapters-to-be-written. If you're wondering why your favorite branch hasn't updated yet...I'm working on it. Just pacing myself. Don't want to burn out (again).
