Fires of the Futa Founders

Kim, you are possibly the best writer on this site, can I add you as a co-owner on the eventual story, or can you at least submit that as a chapter?

Okay, A) -- that's blushing. That is total blushing. Ms. HammerCritic will confirm total blush. Wow. Thank you.
B) Also, there's way too many amazing writers on here for that to be true, but wow it's nice to read.
And C) ...well, yeah! I'm invested at this point. Whatever you can use works for me!

So you know each other IRL, interesting...

I was including myself in that statement you know...

And C) ...well, yeah! I'm invested at this point. Whatever you can use works for me!

I'm going to hold you to that, because I'm making the first half part of the introduction... (With a few trivial edits.)

So you know each other IRL, interesting...

In a manner of speaking -- at the moment I'm in poking distance of Ms. Hammer Critic. And have done so.

(She's Mels, I'm Berry. We're Mels and Berry. We have a cat and an automobile and many, many Transformers.)

I'm certainly in, but you knew that!
Yes, I did, which is why I've added you as co-owner right from the start, speaking of which: can you edit the introduction chapter to alter its language to remove the references to specific ships, travel times, and star targets, but keep the overall tone and reformat it to match what you posted here?

Except that would likely make the design process exponentially more difficult. When you're already tweaking the human genome that much, it's really hard to make sure that there's absolutely no potentially harmful recessives in the DNA strand, versus comparatively little benefit.
Well, it's like breeding animals or growing plants.
Just with the big difference of the fate of those who aren't chosen to be the next generation. (Though doing that to animals isn't any better)

But well, some gene manipulated cloning would probably be much easier and in case of futanari also a possibility. (And scientists, they don't need 15")

It could be as simple (simple -- hah!) as the onset of menses triggering the production of sperm in the testes, so that at the end of menses the cock was ready to fire, while the uterus's pH shifted to something inhospitable to sperm.
Actually, male and female hormones could alternate in their dominance.
An overhang of female hormones would make them able to conceive while their cocks wouldn't even be able to get hard.
An overhang of male hormones would lead to the exact opposite.
In that case, self-insemination would be impossible.
On the other hand, that could add some interesting aspects in terms of living as a futanari.
As the cycles might not always match with a partner's cycle, the society might be more open-minded towards having sex with anyone.
Additionally, it could make up for some interesting situations as someone could be quite dominant while on male hormones but totally different when on female hormones.

Mutations, gene, they can be caused by things as innocuous and diet and exercise, to say nothing of increased or bizarre radiation levels on an alien world.
Well, given that alien-plant-XNA could be all different, there might also be problems of total incompatibility of any nutrients.
I think that the radiation level on the planet is not much of a problem after surviving it in space.

I disagree, way too many people to micro-manage, but not too many to form a tightly bound community. Think about this: how many people do you know that you would recognize them if they walked up to you? Now, how many of those do you know their name off the top of your head? Now, how many of those do you interact with on a yearly basis? Monthly? Weekly? Daily? The pool narrows considerably doesn't it? If we only concern ourselves with the people one interacts directly with around every week to a month, I think the story will do just fine.
Sure, if you only follow a small group, it's no problem if there are a more around. Though limiting it can lead to interesting events like "I hate that bastard but damn... I NEED IT!!"

Mass and physics, gene, mass and physics. It takes a certain amount of thruster mass to move any given object. The more of that mass creating thrust to move fuselage and structure instead of useful cargo the more you are wasting. Fuselage and Structure take up exponentially more of a small ship, percentage-wise, than they do of a larger one, up to a certain point, so obviously you would want the ship to be as close to that tipping point as you can feasibly manage.
Yes, the total mass will be more but on the other hand, you have a lot of advantages.
- You can each small ship as soon as it is ready. First colonists will be like pioneers. (Maybe there are 10 of them on the first go)
- You're much less vulnerable against possibilities and bad luck. At least some of them will arrive. If one of the pioneer ships get sucked up by a black hole, the following ships would still have a chance to react. You prevent "all or nothing" situations.
- You're most likely traveling using solar sails. The more mass, the bigger the sail (and they are BIG). The bigger the sail, the more structure is necessary to hold it. So smaller ships might be preferred.

Conversely, however, more ships have more chances to encounter the true dangers of interstellar travel, cometary fragments, and micrometeorites, which when you are moving at a significant fraction of C has about the same effect as being hit by a nuclear warhead on Earth.
Again, all or nothing.
And these dangers aren't any better for big ships. Even worse for the whole thing if it hits something essential.

...yes? Is that... not usual?
Well, I think I wash my hands rather often and additionally avoid touching commonly used surfaces, so I guess I'm no standard at all.
(So, no I don't think that's usual :D)

Though what I was going to say... if you would wash your hands before masturbating, you most likely would wash them as well before pushing your fingers all the way into your vaj.

...I really hope that the ship's store of cranberry juice survived...

(Yes, Mels. I know that's a myth.)

Seriously, though. The insides are actually pretty durable for mucous membranes that have things slam into them by design and nerve endings designed to make you agree to it, but UTIs happen a lot just from (entirely hygenic) penises 'stirring things up inside.' (Which is something I see on the subtitles of a weirdly large amount of anime!) I actually do understand the point you're making, but please, please, please tell me Adameve wouldn't be self-fisting a baby into themselves? Because their hand could be sterile and they're still asking for infection.

(Everyone knows the turkey baster joke, but everyone knows it for a reason. ;) )

Go play Seed-Ship
:D
nah... don't need more distractions

please, please, please tell me Adameve wouldn't be self-fisting a baby into themselves?
Well, I'd prefer the alternating of male and female cycles over A-ve selfing themselves as it would offer much more possibilities and twist.
Though on the other hand, I'm not quite into futa... though that might be related with the third sentence of most futa stories being "her 15-inch long cock"

(Everyone knows the turkey baster joke, but everyone knows it for a reason. ;) )
(never heard of that (maybe that only works in English) and don't get it :D)

Ah... it's a stereotypical situation. A Lesbian couple wants to have a child, so one or both bring a man into their bedroom, but they don't want to have sex with the man. They just want his semen. So he's encouraged -- on his own or with help -- to climax into the end of a turkey baster, and then the woman joins her partner and impregnates her in a... really unromantic manner.

The story was actually played straight in Lily Tomlin's one woman play The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe. One of the monologues features the guy -- a gym rat who's kind of a dude's dude who had a wild night ten years back with this chick who was into this weird thing, and then slowly realizing that he might -- maybe even probably -- fathered a child after seeing a 10 year old violinist on television who looked a lot like him. This is counterpointed by monologues from both the mothers and the raising of the boy. And a ton of other things. It's a good play.

"The doctor said my child was hyperactive, so they prescribed him Ritalin. I refuse to give my child drugs but it helps me so much when I take it myself."

Though that also raises the question... do you wash your hand before masturbating?

Any particular reason you're asking about my personal practice outside the confessions thread? Both hands, alongside manicure check and maintenance. I also boil or otherwise sanitize cocks between uses, since unlike space futa, I'm modular. You?

I can't seem to make this clear enough: the semen is moist. The semen is collecting crud all on its own during the time it's exposed to the air, and cleaning hands and cocks is not going to take away that vector. Clean hands without gloves will pick up their own crud between washing and contact with any surface. If you are a solo progenitor, you are not taking any chances with your own health or your DNA, and seconds count. This is part of why the colony concept is much easier to accept and work with: there is considerably more margin for error.

I still prefer 'cyborg' as a term.

...Mels... we could totally write Slipstream-finds-Ovyah's-lamp fic!

But maybe this isn't the thread to discuss that.
