In spite of your war-hammer bearing no enchantment and these creatures theoretically being insubstantial you connect solidly with some sort of spongy mass right where the skull appears to be... (OCC: Sslvark: please roll your damage...)
Okay, let's see: Using a lucerne hammer (1d10 damage, two-handed), strength modifier of +4 (modified to +6 by using a two-handed weapon), roll is a 9 for a total of 15 damage.
With a squelching smack the thing falls to the ground, oozing a glowing ichor, the others hiss angrily and focus in on you... EDIT: (OCC: Sorry for the delay, I'm still not feeling 100% and didn't want to try to update and do it badly. Anyway, I'm finally somewhere that I can do this properly with just the right amount and kind of distraction, so, on with the show!)
The "Ghosts" if that is what they are finally get their opportunity to act and do so against Sslvark. Flying up with a screeching cackling they attack by clamping thier spongy 'jaws' onto his arms... ( OCC: Attack Rolls: Roll 1 vs touch: total 15 Roll 2 vs touch: total 19 Both hit. Damage rolls: 1 Electric 5 Electric Total: 6 Electric.) He is badly singed, but not even "Bloodied" by their attack. At this moment Sargent-At-Arms Noah Plasterer enters the fray, his Short Sword flashing... (OCC: ATTACK ROLLS Attack 1: 8+4=12 The Attack Misses.) But he fails to connect. Then Dimmar responds, joining in the charge, baying like a hunting hound. Thus far his eyes still hold the light of reason, but you don't know what might cause him to unleash the full spirit of The Beast. He slashes at the 'ghosts' with his claws... (OCC: ATTACK ROLLS Attack 1: 12+6=18 Attack 2: 10+6=16 Both Hit. Damage 1: 2+6=8 Slashing Damage 2: 4+6=10 Slashing Total: 18 Slashing.) The second 'Ghost' falls, shredded, and it's light begins to dim, save where fitful spurts of that glowing Ichor burst free from its wounds. Seeing her companions joining the fray and doing so well Keria decides to give the fight her all as well and charges in, leaving the last 'Ghost' cornered between three warriors... ( OCC: ATTACK ROLLS Attack 1: 16+3=19 Attack 2: 5+3=8 One hit one miss. Damage: 2+4=6.) The Last 'Ghost' looks to be on the verge of death after taking Keira's punch with a sickening squelching sound as her fist sinks deep into its side: the blow being of such force that if it had an actual skull it would have been crushed like an eggshell... (OCC: you're up Moonblack!)
The 'ghosts' don't seem very ghostly... or very strong, judging by how quickly they go down... but whatever they are they need to be dealt with. Well, the boys – and Keira – seem to have things under control, so I'll leave it to them. Syleen remains where she is, away from the fighting, and starts looking around, scouting the area for anything of interest, such as any creatures – hostile or not – that have been attracted by the sound of battle. (Perception Check: Roll: 2 +1 (skill) +2 (Wisdom bonus) +2 (Keen Senses) Total: 7 )
Nalana takes step back, cursing. Fighting was something she really wanted to avoid... but thankfully, the brutes had their hands on the situation. Instead, she started looking around nervously - she wouldn't like to have a knife thrust into her back because she wasn't paying attention. (Perception Check: Roll: 10 Perception: 2 Total: 12)
Sslvark swings at the creature and misses, leaving an opening. Dimmar closes to box in the attacking apparition... (Attack rolls and damage: Attack 1: 12 + 7 = 19 Attack 2: 10 + 7 = 17 Both Attacks Hit. Damage 1: 1 + 6 = 7 Damage 2: 3 + 6 = 9 Total Damage: 16.) And just like that the fight is over! The last of the three creatures lies dead on the ground as Damar seizes it with his claws and rips it in half! He howls in victory and begins scenting the air for fresh enemies, while your other compatriots check over the wounds suffered. Again the area is blanketed in darkness, with only the shrouded moonlight to allow you to see. Brother Saul Uses his magic and with a few quiet prayers restores... (Healing Rolls: CLW 1: 1 + 2 = 3 CLW 2: 8 + 2 = 10 Total: 13) Thirteen Vitality to Sslvark. "We need to be pressing on." Noah states...
Syleen blinks a couple of times, surprised. That's it? It's over already? Talk about quick... not that I mind. “Yes, we should press on. Unless someone has a better idea or wants to do something first?” The elf asks. While waiting for her companions to answer she moves closer to the remains of the 'ghosts' and quickly examines them, looking for anything of interest, or anything out of place. (OOC: I'm not sure if Perception will be of any use here, but if it is: Perception Check: Roll: 14 +1 (skill) +2 (Wisdom bonus) +2 (Keen Senses) Total: 19 Oh, now I get a decent roll... )
(OCC: Anyone who has it trained please roll me a Knowledge: Dungeoneering, DC 16. Success and each +5 After 16 gives the group one additional piece of information, failure and each -5 one piece of Disinformation: everyone who has the skill must roll. Additionally, anyone with Knowledge: Arcana MAY roll for a single DC 20 check...)
IC: Sslvark rubbed his shoulder. Yes, it had been healed, but his body was still insisting that it had been damaged, and that it should be hurting. Well, there wasn't anything more to do here, so he slung his hammer back over his shoulder and prepared to move off. OOC: I think this is kind of a little bit dead, but here goes.
