After making sure the pirates she leaves behind on the Sea Swan are the few sober, sensible men on her crew, Mariel heads back into town, before stepping into a small boat and rowing along the coast. After a while, she comes along an old plantation, the fields empty, but the small, one story house in decent condition. Stepping off onto the beach, Mariel heads inside. The house is mostly quiet - only one light shone through the window, and Mariel heads into the small dining room, finding her mother drinking tea. Mariel had feared that the deaths of her husband and sun might have destroyed Catherine, but the noblewoman is a resilient sort.
"My sweet. Please, come." She lowers the pistol in her hand and uncocks the flintlock - even if the presence of Mariel's mother here is a secret, this
is a pirate island after all, so caution is always a good idea. "This is Seraphine, an old friend - she's the one who arranged this old estate for us." She gestures to a redhead across the table.
"
Enchante. It's the least I could do." She smiles. "My husband is the governor here. He has very little actual power, but if there's anything I can do to aid you, don't hesitate to ask."
