Elfie
Really Really Experienced
A crew. The words send a thrill through Nami, something between excitement and panic. The sense of responsibility she already carries is almost unbearable – but so is the thought of losing this newfound sense of companionship, of safety. Fortunately, Seri is there to break the spell; Nami laughs with her, the levity of the moment breaking her out of her sudden spiral.
“Uhm – I think that’s everything,” she says, when she’s caught her breath. “At least until we know more.”
Seri eventually settles down, swaying a little to give Nami another fond shoulder-bump as they laugh together, then meeting her eyes from under her fading bangs. “How many of us are there, if you know? Something else that might be useful is making sure there’s enough room to keep everyone comfortable. Bunks, cabins, things like that.”
The more she relaxes, the more than months of abuse catch up with her, and while she’s willing to push on, her body aches for a soft bed and a little rest.
