Tower of Voices: Second Run Voting Thread

It's never that easy, is it.
Well, I am for helping the angels defeat the demons, but both Take and Malphiel are out of mana. Saffiel, however, should have enough mana to cast some spells.
So the question is: Should Take have her mana restored before or after trying to help the angels? Saffiel could attack and wound some of the demons, while Malphiel could use her nudity to distract some of the other invading demons. Hopefully that's enough for the angels to get the upper hand and win the battle.

Anyone have any thoughts about this?
 
I don’t see much choice but to fight here, and we’ll stick with the angels since everyone was in agreement about that. Better to move now while those angels are still standing. We can turn a 6v6 into a 9v6, so let’s capitalize on that.

As for tactics, I don’t think Malphiel’s distraction would work this time. Saffiel was only held back by their well-timed two-prong offensive, a momentary distraction let her wipe out both imps easily. These demons are probably tough enough that that wouldn’t work.

Instead, I think Malphiel should equip the Horned Helmet and Crushers. They’re better suited for her since she doesn’t have enough mana to cast spells. Saffiel, could you stay close to her and focus on any enemies that try to target her with lust magic and such? She should be able to handle herself otherwise. As for Take, this kind of chaotic battle suits her well. She should focus on staying in the shadows and targeting blind spots. Take down enemies directly if possible, but even targeting joints and creating openings for the eight angels to exploit would be good.
 
Okay, since we are talking tactics, I think Malphiel's distraction trick should be a last resort, if everything else fails.

More importantly I think the focus should be on crippling the demons, to give the angels an advantage and allow them to win. Killing any of the demons should be a bonus, not a main goal. To that end Saffiel should use her magic to target the legs – especially the knees, if possible – of any ground demons and the wings of any flying demons, if there are any, to limit their mobility and make them easier targets. Take and Malphiel should work together and flank a demon from the left and right, and if possible isolate that demon from the rest of the attackers.

Huh. That was a lot. (Very hot defeat scene though)

By the numbers, we have good odds of winning. We also know what’s coming. Would it be better to retreat now? To target the artillery before it fires?

I’m not sure if the time travel will continue to reverse the losses here. Mechanically, Take gained a level in Oral fetish and Malphiel gained Sex Addicted. Could another loss lead to a bad end, or would we just gain more fetishes and penalties and then reverse time again? Since this is still the third floor we’ll suffer less penalties than we would if we’d come here later in the run, but I’m not sure that protects us from a Bad End if we keep losing.

Since we were so close to a win, I think we should try again. But I’m not 100% sure on what the best strategy is. I’m leaning towards Take and co targeting the artillery, but I’m wondering what others think.

Not going to vote yet because I haven't actually read the chapter, I only checked the result. But I have to ask, would Take and co even be able to attack the artillery, considering the whole “different time line" thing? Wouldn't the artillery in their time line be different from the one in the bad time line?
 
I will clarify, the ritual that summoned the elite and the artillery are reachable and dealing with them will effect this fight yes.
 
I'd suggest getting an improved armour for Take from Nagi. That should improve our changes a bit. Then trying to find the artillery and seal first and trying to deal with them first.
 
Question: What happens to Saffiel if Take and Malphiel go looking for the artillery or the ritual? Does she stick with them or leave?

(It occurs to me that we wouldn't be having this conversation if Take still had her original armor, as it would have reduced the difficulty by an extra point, to 5...)
 
Saffiel is not an ally, she'll do what she wants, so they'd have to convince her to come with them if they want her too otherwise she'd likely stay here and try to fight.
 
I think if Take warns her about the incoming artillery fire she’ll want to come along, since that’s a threat to the entire battlefield.

As Huginn said, any increase in our numbers could help. If possible, I’d like to save her services for when we can think more about what we want. Can we exchange the three cursed items for ones we can use without taking much time? It won’t be long before the artillery fires. But the tentacle armor would at least be exchanged for usable armor.
 
Oh, I was assuming that artillery barrage was tied to imminent defeat of the demonic attackers, not timed. Trading the tentacle armour would be good expedient way to boost our chances.
 
To be clear. This is a bit of an intentional mechanical dissonance. The elite and the artillery will only occur if the chosen engages in combat. At least in terms of effect. Like it technically would happen regardless, but if Take isn't there to experience it, it will not have happened when she returns since until her actions specifically change the outcome of things, this moment is locked in time at this point.
 
Artillery Barrage +10
Elite Ritual +10

Angelic Blades (Saffiel) -5
Angelic Armor (Saffiel) -3
Angelic Rays (Saffiel) -5

So losing Saffiel's help to take out either the artillery barrage or the ritual will have an overall negative effect. Both need to be taken out in order to make it worth losing her help.

The other issue is:
Lustful Status Effect +10

Neither Take, nor Malphiel, have the Lustful status effect any more, but Malphiel has “Addicted to sex”. Will that have more of an impact on the roll (as in, more than +10, thus increasing the difficulty)? And will the loss have a positive effect, due to Take and Malphiel having had some experience fighting the demonic force, thus decreasing the difficulty?

Addicted to Sex will not actually affect this battle, but may affect more openly sexual encounters in the future. IE if there's any enemy the girls fight that specifically offers sex, Malphiel will potentially struggle to fight them and that will be a negative to battle effectiveness, but it does have to be a more brazen offer than just a cock on display as is the case here.

I hadn't actually considered that having seen the fight play out at least partly already would give them an advantage. I will actually be nice and consider that in all fights that are temporal retries like this cause that is a good point.

Don’t worry Lehe, part of the process of letting the readers decide things is having some slower chapters to let us make decisions. There’s only so much you can do, this is just setting up the fun stuff coming soon.

As for decisions, we’re low enough on viable items that I vote in favor of exchanging the cursed stuff. Some of it could be used in niche circumstances or with some setup, but we need all the help we can get rn. For now let’s go with armor for Malphiel since she’s naked, and then we’ll disrupt the artillery and ritual
