Crap, I hope this works. Vanessa mumbles as she fiddles with her pearl necklace. "O-oh my!" She gasped in feigned shock as her accessory "accidentally" gets caught in something. "Apologies Professor, but please don't move, otherwise you might step on a pearl and slip." She said with a smile as she starts picking up the jewels, making her way to the console to hopefully make quick work of retrieving the drive Jack was talking about.
"Well we remember you, baby..." The two of them grin, before moving to attack. She sees them slip their hands into their pockets, hands coming out wearing knuckle dusters - suspiciously gold looking knuckle dusters. Spoiler: Combat Roll D100: 87-10 (Enemies using low quality gold) Remaining thugs: 0 Sadly for the thugs, their mysterious trump card proves useless against the heroine. Heart dodges easily their punches, slipping behind them, before knocking both out with one powerful kick.
"Yeah, I got it." The landlord flashes a sleazy smirk, before saying "Expect my call - I ain't gonna forget." With that, he returns his gaze to the computer he was looking at, letting Jenny leave. As she and her sister exit the building, Chastity sighs. "What an asshole. Sure you don't want me to handle it, honey? A few minutes with me, and he won't be giving you trouble again."
Jenny cast her sister an appreciative smile. "Thank you, but I'm quite sure. I'm an adult after all and I can handle my own problems. If I can't... well that's what I have Harry for; and if we can't handle something then yours is the first name I'll call." Outside she breathed deep and enjoyed the sunshine on her face. "Now come on, it's sisters day! Let's enjoy it."
As Amethyst Heart kicked the man, she paused as she looked at the knuckles. Those, she would feel... how come they knew what to use against her? She called the police to pick up the thugs, and then made her way away. As she floated in the air, she started to search her memory, looking for a moment she met the thugs... they seemed to know her...
“Let's go freshen up a bit.” Azura suggested as she led her friends toward the nearest restroom – talking out in the open could attract unwanted attention. Once in the restroom and away from prying eyes the trio first made sure they were alone, then Azura started whispering to her friends (just in case there were any microphones there – unlikely but why take the chance). “I have an idea, but it is a risky one. There's a spell I know that can make regular people and the weaker supers ignore us. Doesn't matter if they are looking at us directly or through a camera – as long as we keep moving and do not do anything to attract their attention they will ignore us. We could use the spell to take a look at the upper floors and then leave. However, as you can probably guess, the spell has some flaws. It doesn't work on the stronger supers (and I am honestly not sure where the line is between 'weak enough to be affected' and 'strong enough to not be affected'), people that are on alert and are actively searching for intruders are likely to overcome the spell unless they are really weak-willed, and it doesn't work on machines so it's useless against any automated defense systems. It also has a time limit of 10 to 15 minutes at most, so 10 minutes to be on the safe side. And of course even if the security ignores us now we will still get caught on camera, so if they check the recordings they will know we were there.” Azura paused to catch her breath, then focused on Sapphira. “Can you do that portal thing, in case we need to leave in a hurry? I'd rather not fight the guards and potentially endanger the guests if we get discovered, so we need to have an escape plan in case we need to leave in a hurry.”
Modifying her voice into an alto, Calista explains, still blushing profusely "W-well...you've seen her before, so it felt...right once you asked." She twirls in front of Lana, showing off the simple outfit. "T-thank you!" Once the skirt settles, Lana notices a telltale bulge in the fabric at Calista's groin, pointing it out as the newer singer joins her on the couch. "O-oh! I didn't even notice!" If Calista's face could turn any redder, it would from sheer embarrassment. "Um, I definitely can't go out like this...D-do you think Lee can avoid making my ribs worse?" I don't want to explain that to a doctor...
Spoiler: Stealth Roll D100: 78 "Hnggh..." The professor has to visibly strain to contain her irritation for the woman intruding in her work space, but keeps her mouth shut, as Vanessa moves around. The heiress finds the switch, clicking it, before she sees a section of wall nearby slide open, revealing a staircase.
"Yeah, you're an adult. I kinda noticed when these got big - like the rest of our entire town." Chastity gives Jenny's chest a playful poke, chuckling. "I was so jealous of you back then. Thought I was going to be flat chested forever..." "Hell yeah, time for the Foxx sisters to run this place!" Chastity smiles, walking hand in hand with her sister. "Where first, sis?"
"Well that certainly didn't happen." Jenny replied nudging Chastity's own equally large bosom. "Good question." Jenny responded. "I figured we could hit a few boutiques and then grab some lunch. Maybe head to the park before getting on to your new gym. I figure I could use a good workout." she said the last jovially. In her superhero work she mostly just used her powers and she knew she shouldn't neglect her physical endurance or athletic ability. She'd in fact been meaning to join a gym for a while. She and Harold had a small home 'full-body' workout machine at home and it helped, but an actual properly equipped gym would be nice. Thus, bags in hand, the twins set off for their day.
Amethyst remembers a night from the beginning of the last month, a patrol just like this one. She'd been flying around, intercepting these very same thugs as they mugged a woman, tearing a necklace from around her neck. Flying down, she'd rescued the woman and made short work of the thugs, but before she could capitalise, she felt the cold metal of the necklace wrapping around her throat, one of the thugs slipping behind to try and choke her, the expensive, pure metal making her powers slip away.
Sapphira nods. "I can prepare one, yeah. Should one of us raid the security room, to nab the recordings?"
"Heh, depends which Lee. The more sensitive version of him could, I think." Lana chuckles as she sees Calista go red. "I should probably figure out names to distinguish the two of them, at some point."
"Sounds like a plan." Chastity nods. As they walk through the neighborhood, Jenny gets a few smiles from the people who know her, and more than a few wandering eyes as the sisters walk together. Soon, Chastity checks directions on her phone, and the two of them veer into a high class shopping district. Looking around, Jenny sees signs of a superpowered struggle, and wonders if she'll have to cut her plans short, but luckily, as she passes a TV displayed in an electronics store, she sees that the reptilian villain seems to have been apprehended. "This city has so many supers - It must be weird living here. We don't have many back in Empire City."
A freaking staircase!? Vanessa's eyes widened as she thought that the hidden compartment was merely a hidden box, and not a hidden level altogether. Shoot, no other choice. She grumbles, as she heads down. Though she knew she'll be noticed, all she could hope to do was grab the drive as discreetly as she could.
Rushing down the staircase and hoping no one's looking that way, Vanessa finds herself in a dark room. As she scrambles around, looking for the drive, the room lights up in a brilliant blue, as an indistinct image of a face is projected from a plinth on the wall. "Who... Are you?" She hears a voice that sounds...sounds like Oscar's.
"W-what!?" Vanessa's eyes widen as she heard Oscar's voice, she immediately turns around to look, only to see an image that looks awfully like the old man. "You!" She growled, until she realized it asked who she was. "You're... not him?" She tilts her head, "I am... Vanessa, and you are?" The heiress decided to introduce herself, and ask a question. But before she forgot, she continues looking around for the drive while the image on the wall introduced itself.
"It does seem to be where most of them gravitate to. But I guess you just get used to it." Jenny agreed pulling out her phone to send a quick notification on her app but seeing multiple reports already there. "Housing prices might be cheap, but insurance rates are through the roof." she joked. The twins spent the rest of the morning perusing the local shops before stopping for lunch at a well regarded cafe. Throughout the morning, with no pressing work and no real activities to distract her mind the memories of her recent infidelities had begun to weigh upon Jenny's mind. While her sister's company had been most welcome, long quiet stretches, and lecherous stares from various men constantly brought her guilt to the surface. Thus as the two ordered tea and a light snack, Jenny regarded her sister. Though the pair hadn't been close for quite some time there was something about Chastity's proximity that comforted Jenny. She remembered how close they once were and how they had shared everything with each other. Once upon a time they had no secrets, and with her life full of them, now no longer able to share them with her husband, Jenny felt an urgent need to voice her shame and regret to another person. But she knew Chastity would undoubtedly have questions, questions Jenny didn't want to answer as they would expose not just Harold, but Ty, Sondra, and Mike as well. Though with Mike's recent actions Jenny found herself having some difficulty caring about exposing him. Thus she kept her quiet, and sat agitated with Chastity, trying to distract herself with idle chit-chat.
"Vanessa?" The voice asks searchingly, before it repeats her name with more clarity. "Vanessa. Vanessa Fitzgerald. My protege... My slave..." Oscar's voice says the words, as if trying to recall. "I am...was... Oscar Hawkins. Or, I am an AI reconstruction of his consciousness."
"Your what!" Vanessa growled in anger, and shame as the voice replied. She clenches her fist, holding back the urge to repeat how that fateful night ended with Oscar entering a comatose state. "Khh, AI... reconstruction." She said as she tries to calm down, "So this is what I'm looking for?" Mumbles, "Do you know how I can transfer you? To move you to a different location?" She asked, focusing on more important things at the moment.
