It's apparently a combo of activity and chapter depth, with views used as well. So a story has to be over 25 chapters deep, and have a lot of views over the past x number of days, which means that very active stories get more chances to get it. It is a pretty random process though beyond that, and a story can't win more than once a year or so. That's why new stories where the (usually very excited) author pumps out a lot of content on it in the first few weeks or months has a decent chance of being story of the week if the quality is high enough that a fair number of people are viewing it regularly. Which makes sense to me, and having it pick newer but very active stories makes a lot of sense. It doesn't need to be the top 5 stories over and over again.

I've got no plans to stop writing Captive Prince anytime soon and there's definitely space for more routes to be added!

Fine, if you insist . Of the love interests in my story, my favorite's actually Kihara. I really like how she's developed as a character, and I'm a sucker for the gentle and loving but strict when she needs to be personality she has. And Marcus just gets to be so adorable around her because she's utterly swept him off his feet. It helps of course that she's just a genuine good person, even if she does have some secrets that will be revealed as time goes on... That doesn't mean I don't like them all in different ways of course, she just edges the others out. Though overall my favorite character is definitely Marcus. No matter who he's with, it's a joy to write him.
I haven't read far into Kihara's branch, which is a shame because gentle femdom is definitely my jam but I've just been lazy. Thanks for telling us though! And yes Marcus is great and adorable. I was gonna "guess" some joke character as your favorite but I struggled because they are all so good, I suppose I could have gone with Gaius the ever just off screen
Kihara was actually my first guess just because she's gotten the most screen time out of any of the love interests. Though that might be just because there haven't really been any other notable characters in her branch yet unless you count Nasir. Her route is definitely one of my favorites too, just behind Irena and Shaharza which are currently tied for my favorite.
Yeah those two are fun as well. Irena I like because she has layers. She genuinely thinks what she's doing is right, even if she enjoys it a lot as well. And she isn't actually that cruel or sadistic as I hope I've shown through comparison with her daughter, and her gentler scenes when Marcus does as he's told. She'd really rather males would just behave themselves and not need punishment, but she won't hesitate to hand it out if she thinks it's warranted. Shaharza's route I enjoy writing because Marcus just can't help himself around her or any other Orc and so he gets to be more of a little slut than the other routes. I am planning more development for her as a character later on but it's also just fun to have her swagger around dominating Marcus and the Queen. Oh and another character I really like who kind of came out of nowhere to become one of my favorites is actually Jack. He wasn't planned to be that important in that route's original form, but he's turned into a really good guy who presents some nice moral dilemmas for Marcus and himself.
You summed up why I like Irena pretty well. I just can't help but like her even if her actions are objectively the most evil of any of the invaders besides maybe Lileath. Oh yeah Jack definitely stole Lyra's thunder but I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing their romance turned out to be really touching.
Sorry for the wait, this past week I was hesitating about which suggestions I should present to you, among all the ideas your story gave me through the months. I finally decided on three of them that I thought would be interesting while not being overly convoluted nor too simple and bland. Here they are, I hope you’ll enjoy them: The bodyguard (muscle worship route): With the king and queen wanting their son Marcus to be safe, Castor decided, before escaping with his wife during the attack on the kingdom, to task his most formidable warrior to guide him out of the kingdom, to lay low and to protect him, at least until Castor can remedy to the situation. This warrior, however, is the very type of female knight Marcus has been reading stories about: a two-meter-tall, muscled and tomboyish amazon. At first, their both surprised by each other appearance, Marcus by seeing his fetishes in flesh and bones, while she is baffled at the sight of the prince being a contrast of the man she was honor-bound to, his father. Which made her decide to train him while they travel the country, as a wandering knight and Marcus as her young squire, however the weak prince rapidly gets to her nerve, she is used to living with soldiers, therefore his lack of strength and survival skill , as a man, annoys her. But her annoyance would soon blossom into something else. For you see, growing up a lot of men were trying to prove they were stronger than her because she was a woman, putting them back in their place always made her feel great, she attributed this feeling to simple pride. But now, seeing the contrast between herself and the prince give her a massive “high” like she never felt before, now with a need to dominate the young prince, and the prince seeing her as his naughty stories come to life, it’s not hard to see where this will go.(Note: It says “muscle worship”, but the focus is mostly in their differences in builds, you can change it if you want) The Baroness (Forced marriage route): After the men of Gaius were able to force the king and queen to flee their castle, leaving Marcus alone, a new armed group appear and rapidly and expertly disbands Gaius’ army to themselves flee, the commander behind this counter-attack? A Baroness from Castor’s court, more of a strategist than a warrior, although she can hold her own in with a sword, she quickly worked herself amongst Castor’s most trusted confidant. Her intellect permitting her to come up with some of the most brilliant strategy, be it at chess or in a real war. However, her latest plan was one not even the king knew of, for she had the same intention as Gaius, and although she holds no grudge against the royal family, she has no intention of giving back their kingdom, she intend to make it her own, but that would be easier if she was to marry in royalty. Enter Marcus, the prince that just reached the age for marrying, also her type, she wants to marry him to become the new queen of this kingdom she has been coveting for so long and also put an end to her status as “old maid”. The baroness is maybe very patient but, she still waited for quite a while for Gaius to attack and then take back what she believe was hers to take, and during that time, this cougar also had to lays off on other lavish activities, so the court would thrust her more, and she is starting to run out of restraint in that department too. Fortunately, she intends to have her honeymoon very soon. The steampunk general (Sex toys route): The heavy sounds of steam and metal echoes in the city, the fight is over, if you can even call it a fight, it was too quick and one-sided to be called that, that’s when the door of Marcus’ room bursts open, opened by the metallic boot of an armor like he’s never seen before, it look more like a golem than an armor, it’s wearer, the general of the vanguard of a country neighboring Castor’s kingdom, now their armies are here and they want to dominate with their new technology. The general of this vanguard, a young woman, as young as a general should be, is taking Marcus prisoner, to interrogate, mostly. Which is perfect for her, her new mission being a very exhausting and stressing one, she now has to interrogate a young, cute male, the methods used in the interrogation are hers to choose. Which means she can test some her “experimental toys” on him and she gets to relax by watching a cute boy squirm in pleasure for her eyes only. That’s like killing three birds with one stone. (note: I did say it’s steampunk, but the level of advancement in that domain would up to you of course, example: do they have steampunk vehicle or are they not there yet.) Well, those are the three stories idea I present to you, I hope you’ll enjoy them, don’t hesitate to make changes to the suggestions if you want to use them. I decided to at least make a psychological profile of the characters and how I see them, you can bring any change to them you want, as I said. Sorry for lack of detailed physical descriptions for the characters, I felt like it’d make it easier for you to build upon a character the character physique with only the basis rather than making changes. Also, sorry for the lack of names for the characters, and the country in the steampunk route, there’s two reasons for that, one: I suck at giving name. Two: since you’re the one who ultimately add the routes and chapter, I thought it’d be more appropriate if you were the one giving them names. If you have any criticism, don’t hesitate to tell me, I want to get better at putting my ideas in papers and writing in general. As always keep up the good work.
Thanks a lot for these, some really great ideas which are quite different from what I've already put in, both in terms of story and also the potential erotic situations they'd offer up. So they should slot in nicely to fill out what's already there and the narratives you've set up definitely make sense and work well with the setting. I've actually got a bit of a backlog of new threads I've been meaning to add so it might be a little while before I get to any of your ideas but I'm definitely interested in all of them. I'd say the bodyguard especially because it appeals to a lot of things it's probably pretty obvious from my writing that I really like (Stronger, taller women dominating smaller, feminine boys), but I could also see myself doing some fun things with the other two. Looking at them now, I've had a couple thoughts on what I'd do with them narratively if you're interested in what I came up with. I would have to differentiate the bodyguard from Kihara's route, because they could easily end up similar in that you have Marcus travelling alone with his stronger female warrior savior, but I think by having her attitude towards him be much colder and more dismissive at first while he kind of hero-worships her and is desperate to impress her but keeps failing because he's so weak and clumsy they could have a different dynamic between them, eventually leading to her dominating him sexually in a far more forceful way than Kihara does, like not focusing so much on his pleasure and just taking what she wants from him. Maybe eventually leading to a place where she starts to warm up towards him as they travel together. With the baroness, yeah I really like the contrast between her as cold, calculating strategist using every situation to the best advantage and then also she's hiding massive amounts of repressed lust as she waits for the moment she can make Marcus hers, to the point where it's all just unleashed on their wedding night on the poor boy out of nowhere. I'd love to get into Marcus' head as that happens. The steampunk one I'd change slightly by making the general also the genius behind all the inventions that have led her country to dominate with them, so she's kind of obsessed with technology and how it can be used to the point where it's kind of a fetish of hers. Kind of like a mad scientist vibe where she gets off on seeing Marcus squirm under her inventions.
Here's a random idea for you: The Miko (Shrine Maiden) (multiple fetishes route): Marcus is given to a group of mikos (possibly from the same country as Kihara) as payment for their help. He gets used as a mix of a servant and a sex slave: He helps them with bathing and getting dressed, he pleasures them any way they desire, and occasionally his cum is collected and used in their rituals. Over time he begins to enjoy his new life. Thank you for this idea! Yeah, something I've actually been considering is putting Marcus in the hands of a group of girls who share and squabble over him. I'd have to figure out how it would work narratively, possibly someone trying to remove him from the line of succession has him kidnapped and given as an offering to these reclusive priestesses who live in a isolated monastery and share a single virgin boy as part of their religion and otherwise don't allow men near them. It'd be nice to have ones with different fetishes and attitudes towards him, so one could be gentle and motherly, while another could start colder but slowly warming up over time. And if they use his cum in rituals that would require them all to mercilessly milk him in various ways which would be fun to write. You're right that Kihara was originally planned as a Japanese Samurai, but I actually decided to turn her into more of an Arabian princess instead, which is why she lives in the desert and rides an eagle etc. I just felt like I could do more with that setting rather than fake Japan, but I could definitely revisit my original idea for that thread and make them all mikos.
