"I heard your friends say it in the ruins." She chuckles as he asks why he should work for you. Suddenly, he's no longer in the cave, but returning to Castle Yokuboo after another menial job. Heading to the small room he shares with his young wife and daughter, he examines the small pittance he was able to provide for them. As Chitsukiko and their baby daughter look up at him, Jian feels a pang of shame, as he realises he can't provide for the highborn girl he married.

The scene shifts, and Jian now sees himself in a nanban mirror, clad in a patriarch's robe. Behind him, Chitsukiko stands proudly in an expensive dress, before he blinks, returning to the cave, Priya looking up at him. "Chitsukiko loves you, but she's a noble, and you're the son of a whore. You'll never be enough for her. But I can make you enough. I can make you a lord, and Chitsukiko your lady." The temptation of her offer is real, assaulting his senses, though his will is still his own.

Jian shook his head from the visions, 'Make me a lord? A tempting offer, but excuse my scepticism. You're living in an old crypt with your spiders, how could you make me a lord?'
