(As am I!) "Well, at the very least," Levandi replies as she nods at Safiya, "It's worth looking into. And hey, even if it is a dead end, a breastplate and helm made of amber would be pretty striking looking, don't you think?" Levandi sighs at the note that even a pharmacist would claim is incomprehensible but... well... he IS related to Enyo so some familial quirks were bound to be there. "Depends on what you mean by 'friendly'," Levandi replies with a wicked smirk as Safyia voices her concerns, "And besides, it's just a catch-up chat. I'll have to see if I want more than that when I get there." Her big toe once again brushes against Capris' arm once again. "If I do... well... we'll see how much it takes to fill me up."
Capris kept working to mend Levandi's foot, while Safiya inspected the pendant. He did raise an eyebrow when Safiya said the letter was from Dimitri, 'Friends in high places, huh? Don't worry we'll keep that to ourselves.' Finishing patching up the wound, Capris gave Levandi a smile, as her toe brushed his arm, 'That should do it for your foot, should be good as new. Any other maladies that need tending to?'
(I'm still trying to make things work. Things are gradually getting there. Though with the current stuff going on, I probably will still be taking my time anyway.) The guy stared at her for a few moments, hearing Raven's protests, but without so much of a crack of guilt or concern on his face, he reached into his coat to brandish a long gleaming silver knife. "Don't insult my intelligence." She didn't need to guess what that blade was for as he came closer, placing it alongside her arm, just touching the skin, but not yet cutting. "How about a change of question then? How long can a demon bleed for before they die?' His face didn't crack or twitch. Hands perfectly steady and well practiced. It wasn't clear whether or not he could just be bluffing or if he was completely serious.
@Daylan @unisol_gr44 (I actually had some idea where I wanted to go with things already, so I might just push things forward a bit like I planned.) As they had their conversation, the sounds of footsteps could be heard down the hall. Heavy enough that it was obviously one of the palace guards just by the noise. Once the door opened, a pair of guards set in, with something of an urgent look on their faces...but also confused. "Um...Lord Yegen has returned...with...that..." He seemed to just trail off, seeming unsure of whatever he was thinking about. "Please report to the throne room for a council meeting as soon as possible."
"Sadly, no," Levandi sighs, "At least not ones that would require having those wonderful hands on me some more." Levandi sits up, looking towards the guard in mild curiosity. "Returns with... what?"
Capris chuckled, as his hand rubbed up Levandi's calf, 'Huh, you flatter me, perhaps I should've become a chiropractor. Your muscles can be a bit sore after the healing process, so if you'd like a massage, you know where to find me.' He turned to the guard, looking similarly confused, 'Once more a tad less cryptic if you please?'
@Daylan @unisol_gr44 The guard who spoke exchanged a glance with the one beside him, who had an equal uncertain look on his face, but didn't receive any help before he spoke. "Well....he has those...guests with him." From the expression, they definitely were unsure of whoever the mystery visitors were, before straightening up. "Umm...we need to round up the rest. Please report soon." Excusing themselves out of the conversation, they left without expanding on any of it.
Levandi gave Capris a raised eyebrow at the behavior of the guards before sighing and getting up, sadly removing her leg from his touch. "This day just keeps getting stranger, doesn't it?" she asked as she took a moment to confirm she could fully stand under her own power again.
Capris straightened up, shaking his head, 'I do say, a shame we don't have more.... helpful guards.' 'Better, I hope?''Capris asked with a smile, 'Shall we head to the throne room? I can offer my arm if you're still wobbly on your feet.'
@Daylan @unisol_gr44 The trip to the war room was probably longer than it should have been. The palace's constantly winding hallways and confusing layout....allegedly this would make things difficult for intruders, but all it seemed to accomplish was making navigating it overly difficult even for the people who lived in it. As they made their way to see everyone gathered, the reason for the guards bafflement became much more pronounced. Even the rest of the claimants who were waiting for instruction, only seemed capable of standing beside each other and murmuring to themselves, not knowing what to make of the apparent company. "What the fuck are they doing here?" "They're supposed to be all chaste right? How come they're always getting naked?' "Why are they even concerning themselves with demon politics? Do they want Dimtri dead that much?" "Maybe...but even so...of all people they would willingly work with...Lord Yegen? Really?" While Yegen had positioned himself in front of the table, nobody seemed to be paying attention to him, more focused on the man to his left, and the woman on his right. There was no mistaking it. Those soft appearances, accompanied by pearl white wings. But more than just appearances, was simply the kind of aura they radiated. Compared to the typical demonic taint, feeling the energy they possesses was a bizarre contrast. The woman's being a kind of bright warmth like the sun, the male's presence also giving off a kind of internal light, but something more distant and less life-like. But that kind of light made it evident just by feeling it. Celestials.
"No...No, please..." Raven heaves and sobs, letting out the waterworks as she lures the guy into a false sense of security. "Don't hurt me... I'll do anything..."
Capris folded his arms, looking at the angels and wondering as much as the others what they are doing here. @Daylan He glanced sideways to Levandi, 'I don't understand why the guards were so cryptic about those two. It's fairly obvious what they are.'
Levandi gawked at the two... well... heavenly bodies. "I dunno, I kinda get it now," she said as her eyes darted back and forth between the two of them, "You don't see Celestials every day and the few you do usually involves dodging swords burning with holy fire. If they're here peacefully then something WEIRD and/or BAD is going on." Chewing her lower lip thoughtfully she adds, "And they're with Yegan of all people? That WOULD be a lot to process at a guard's level."
(It's almost impressive how badly she fails every speech check.) Instead of being intrigued or even taking the slightest moment to think about it, he just looked more annoyed than anything else. "Don't tie me in with the rest of those morons.'' Not deterred in his plans, he just gave a sigh. "Well, I suppose we can do this the hard way then." The one advantage she did have is that he still failed to realize how much stronger Raven was then the average prisoner, taking his eyes off for a moment to look over the tools he had laid out on the table. "A spy for the crown?....that doesn't sound right. They'd be more competent than that. One of Aversa's cultists then? So, let's start with something you might actually know. We already know more than you think. We know that Aversa had claimed that she had already forseen her victory slaying Lord Yegen. We know she's suddenly getting a lot more openly aggressive with her moves. We know she's been stockpiling a lot of medicine and poison's....where's it all being sent?" While he was making the wrong conclusions of her involvement, that did tell her a few useful things...but she couldn't quite put together exactly how it all fit. Not yet. Raven could get the sense that she was seeing the pieces to....something. But it wasn't really evident exactly how. Though it did tell her that apparently the cultists were plotting....something. Yet she was just as clueless about what that could be as they were. Though getting them to actually believe that.... As the man looked downwards preparing knives, she could see just above his head past him, a faint ripple on the stone wall as something started to pour in. It was one of those wisps. They were getting closer to moving in now, and it was putting itself in a position waiting to act seeming to wait until Raven gave some hint of what it should do.
Damn low class trash! She swears internally. "Well, okay, I'll tell you about Aversa, you just have to... What the hell is that?" She shouts, staring straight at the wisp. Either he turns around and I gut him from behind, or he thinks that I'm bluffing, and the wisp gets him.
@Daylan While the tension continued for a while, Yegen and the angels seemed to ignore it. The woman held a friendly smile in spite of it, while the male one's expression looked more like he thought this was a waste of time even without saying it. Regardless, the noise started to die down as Yegen raised his hand...everyone knew it wasn't out of respect, and just morbid curiosity of why they're even here. "As you all realize, there's a few people you've never seen before today. The celestial host has done us with the amazing honor of dignifying the demon realm with their presence." He took a moment to take a look at the male angel who returned his gaze with an equally contemptuous stare. They clearly weren't friends, but the female one seemed to completely fail to notice as she spoke. "I am Neriah. My partner here, is Zanriel." She gestured to the male angel who looked somewhat exasperated. "I'm about as happy about it, as the rest of you." Not even trying to come off as sociable like the female, it really wasn't anything that couldn't be expected, but it seemed largely ignored by his apparent partner with the female angel. "He doesn't mean that. Matter of fact is, we are here to be helpful. After all, I am the one who informed you that the tomb you raided even existed, in the first place. I thought I would make a personal appearance so I could see things for myself." Something about the way she spoke and the enthusiasm with her smile was...peculiar. @unisol_gr44 Though as she spoke, something clicked in Capris's mind. Why was she just Neriah? The other one had the "of god" suffix to his name...but she was apparently lacking it. The only angels that don't end with "iel" are outcasts. Yegen not seeming to want her to hijack the conversation from him, stepped up as he gave another glance at the two. It was doubtful he was friends with either or they even mutually shared a high opinion of him. "The angel's claims are true. Her information about the location of the tomb was true, which is enough that I can say we can at least assume they're not with Dimitri or Aversa." He didn't even bother not publicly mentioning his doubts towards them, but again, neither of them seemed especially concerned by it. Though Yegen's typical crazed smile began to recede to looking more frustrated. "Due to the heavy losses we sustained with fighting, we need more commanders. Jia is currently out of commission, but thanks to Capris's efforts, she's expected to make a full recovery eventually." It sounded dangerously close to something like actual praise. More likely, he was just happy about the fact that Jia would recover being she is among the most powerful fighters they have available in terms of just combat prowess. But he still couldn't hold any attempt of a smile as he spoke. "So...as of effectively today, Neriah and Zanriel, will be taking the roles of commanders." He could barely so much as muttered it, but the uproar was immediate with many, many, loud objections to the idea. Neriah's smile began to falter a slight bit at hearing how vocally people were against her presence, though Zanriel seemed mostly passive about it, more or less this is what he expected to happen.
Stopping for a moment, that seemed to grab his attention. “Just what? I don’t have much patience for you trying to get cute. I’l- His speech was cut off as the glow from the wisp amplified, sending out a surge of blue flame to engulf him from behind in spectral fire. His calm demeanour began to break from the panic of the surprise attack and while it definitely hurt him bad, Raven could still feel his life force intact, the wisp just not having the power to get the job done, however the confusion and panic from him dealing with the flames would leave her with the perfect opportunity to make her move.
The burnt demon hears a spine chilling, inhuman roar from behind him, as the archdemon changes from a she to a he, and from a human into a looming creature of darkness. "Let's have some fun..." Ravenor growls, before springing forward and attacking.
'Perhaps you are right, it's certainly not a common occurrence', Capris said. Capris had to smirk at Neriah's name, 'Seems Neriah isn't as holy as her so-called partner. Only outcasts from the host drop the "iel" from their names. How curious why they would be working together... and help us... and join our ranks.' Capris had to chuckle, 'My, our operation must be failing at every point if we're taking celestials as commanders. They'll have their work cut out for them trying to get a bunch of demons to listen to their commands.' He stepped forward and raised his voice over the cacophony, 'Will you pipe down, the lot of you? The boss isn't done yet. You can be indignant about all this afterwards.'
Levandi frowns. How would a Celestial know about hidden tombs on demonic land? And why would she want to help anyone here at all? Were they looking for something that was in the tomb but could not go into it themselves for some reason? They couldn't POSSIBLY be looking for a weird pair of ratty old boots... could they? Levandi's jaw drops. She always knew Yegan was crazy to one extent or another but THIS was a whole other LEVEL of crazy. Though noticing Neriah's reaction there IS a small part of her that feels a little pity at the Celestials seeming genuine disappointment. It is a very small part of her, but still a part of her all the same. "So either that fellow might be near a fall himself or she might be looking to get back into their good graces, you think?" Levandi half-mutters to herself, otherwise staying silent and letting Capris address everyone for the moment as she ponders the situation.
