Sorry fairy, but I can't see any reason why you should help Yulia, not any profit or reward for your aid. I'm mean to ofence you, but as we know from much tales fairies could be quite a helpfull but also trincest and tricky, who lead prey into trap as joke. Also, you have bigger breast than Yulia (if you both were the same size) so it made you more suspicious. Just lead Yulia to trap where she lose her clothes.

 

I guess you still don't like me, but I'll share some thoughts anyway. I would not expect Muma to be outright evil and try to get you killed, but do expect some silliness. When she said there is nothing good down the light path she might have referred to the available fruits, not that the cave is bad. And while distrusting everyone you meet is a reasonable mindset you do need allies if you want to succeed, so you'll need to trust someone earlier or later. So far she has not shown any aggression (besides being a bit pushy, but that can be forgiven), so give her the benefit of the doubt for now.

Try offering her some of your food, see if that changes her mind about going down the dark path.

While Muma will probably not just tell you everything she knows you can probably ask her what you're going down the dark path for and what to expect. If it's to get to the sweetest fruits on this floor with only mild dangers consider humoring her. Those sweet fruits seem important to her and you want to keep the guide that you trust not to send you to your death happy. As far as favors are concerned this is reasonably innocent (remember that Dreg is the alternative).

Also consider sending Cherchiel ahead. If she runs into a poison trap and goes unconscious you can cure and heal her. If you get poisoned and go unconscious there is not much a depowered angel can do about it.

 

You can probably trust the fairy.

Also, I don't mean to put any pressure on you, Yulia, but Lindsey, Susan, Fred and Melody are reviewing this story so don't lose in any way that would be anti-climatic.

Also, that fairy is legal, right? I'm just a little concerned about her being 'tiny', that just means size, doesn't it?

 

Yes it just means size... She's of legal age for her species mentally, emotionally and physically and passes every other aspect of the Harkness test, she is also about as tall as the average human hand.

Nice to meet you, Muma! You seem nice... but the way you insisted for Yulia to take one path and ignore the other is VERY suspicious... any particular reason you want to avoid the other path? Also, what sort of companion would you consider useful, if Cherchiel isn't?

Yulia, for now be nice to the little fairy – but do NOT trust her! She might be telling the truth – or she might be trying to trick you and get you into trouble. Take anything she tells you and any advice she offers with a grain of salt.

For now give the fairy some food, then go back to the path you explored previously – time to see what else you will find there. Have Cherchiel take the lead.

 

Gonna just be blunt, I think Muma is either going to lead us directly to our death or help us immensely, there is no in between.
That being said, I'm optimistic! Let's follow her instructions, and hope for some... nice juicy fruits?
Is the fairy not self sufficient why the fuck do we gotta get it for her?

If I had to justify her choice, I'd say that most animals will avoid clear open spaces, simply because it's easier for predators to spot them in them?
NO clue to be frank what she's thinking, hoping she can hear us and answer.

 

Oh, and Yulia, I should warn you. That fairy is very small and if you does betray you (which I doubt), she might try flying into your butt and expanding, blowing you up like that Ant-Man meme.

So you should try to find something to protect your butthole. If she does fly into your butt, tell her you need the toilet, that should get her out real fast. If she still doesn't come out, just try to go number two.

Oh, Muma, Ant-Man is a man who can shrink to the size of an ant. It was speculated for some time that he would defeat a purple titan by crawling up his ass and expanding. Though, it turned out the titan was defeated by other means.

Also, Muma, whatever you do, for the love of god, do not say anything like, "hey, Yulia, listen, listen"

 

Sorry Muma, I'll whisper for now. Weirdly I trust you now... I too have sensitive ears, and I don't think anyone would use that as an excuse since they don't know the discomfort. I do need to talk to the others and be heard so I can't whisper all the time, but maybe you could fly a bit away from Yulia since I think our Voices follow her. Sorry we started off on the wrong foot... Dreg kinda shattered my initial kindness. Do you know where certain rooms are, such as the coin room? Or could you tell us the theme for this floor? Gonna talk louder now...

So ya, Yulia I think you can trust Muma. It is unfortunate she can't tell us about traps and such, but I'm sure the Tower wouldn't allow that. Let's be cautious and go down the lantern path.

This pretty much settles it then. No reason to not go towards the lantern.

On the subject of resting, it feels like we haven't really talked about one obvious solution. What would happen if Cherchiel stood guard while Yulia is resting?

 

Why is Muma whining? We're just typing words on a screen. Nobody has physically said anything. How is that loud?

 

Still not convinced our new fairy friend can be fully trusted, but I will agree with her in this case. Go check out what the lantern leads to. Either Muma is telling the truth, in which case you will find something useful, or she's lying, in which case the sooner you find out the better.

Do be on the lookout for danger, be it traps or something else, just in case Muma is lying, or is simply wrong.

 

Well, time to over-analyze everything Muma said.

There is the "terrible icky gross monster". While that is not much to go on do pay attention to slime trails and bad smells. If you do notice a sudden bad smell your first reaction should be to draw your dagger and get ready to blast the monster with an Icicle, not to check out what smells so bad.
It might just be a flower after all, but looking a bit silly waving a dagger at a flower is preferable over you getting surprise-attacked by the monster. And maybe there is another fairy on the floor that's prettier than Muma and she is over-compensating with her description.

Do be weary of "sunshine, happiness and pretty plants". The tower isn't just nice like that and you haven't earned it as a reward yet, so it may be a poppy field that puts you to sleep with happy dreams until you die.

There doesn't seem to be anything we can do with the knowledge that there are ways to keep Muma or to leave her behind, but we should remember that when choices appear. For now though we should favor the one that doesn't get her killed.

Try to properly understand the lantern logic. It's important to know if areas are considered "connected". Apparently this is something that Muma is allowed to talk about, so ask her to tell you when you're leaving an area. If that is not allowed then ask her directly whenever things start looking differently than before.

Since the tower seems to like rules so much try to find ways to abuse them. The monster is probably not allowed to go into the safe lantern area, but you have range and can blast it from the lantern area or can retreat to it, forcing the monster to turn around or get punished. Maybe you can remove the lanterns to make it look like it's not the lantern area, but it still is, thus the tower kills the monster for you.

Try to find a way around Muma not being allowed to tell you things directly. See if she can draw pictures in the dirt instead. Maybe she is not allowed to bring things up herself but when asked a specific question she can answer. So try question like "Would I be able to defeat the monster?", "What is the next danger I'll encounter on this path?" or "If you had to make this choice which option would you pick?"

Lastly, Muma doesn't seem to have much trust in us and seems to prefer we weren't here or you wouldn't listen to us. I don't know what to do with that information yet. We are an integral part of the tower, she should know that. It might be something innocent like the loudness or that she doesn't trust us to suggest the choice she wants you to make, but it might be more sinister.

 

Wait, is it the specific area that is safe or can Yulia just grab a lantern and move the lantern area? Also, Yulia should still take precautions in case Muma tries to do the butt thing like that other fairy did.

 

I'll try talking quietly too for Muma's sake. I think we should go towards the lantern too, since all the votes are going that way anyways. Also love how we're making jokes that they won't get. Either way, if she gets a stone mask and dyes her hair orange, I'm a happy camper.
