Keira looks very confused for a second and scratches the top of her head. She settles on just smiling comfortingly, and aproaches, patting the branded man on the shoulder. "I have no idea what you mean, sounds like a riddle. Anyway its nice to meet you too mister Saul! We'll try not to make your job to hard." She bubbles and gives a small bow, showing the most respect she knew how to him and the Reverend. She greatly admired and was slightly envious of those types of people who were able to heal others at a moment's notice. Had things turned out differently she too might have been a priest. She stepped back, thinking of her master, and kept up with the smile that was so natural to her now.
"Hello holy man." Damar says. Though he does not bow like Keira, his voice is quiet and respectful. "I thank you for your aid, and hope that we may become friends in time." His eyes twinkle slightly with mischief, and he shifts himself to reveal a poorly healed burn scar in the shape of an A over the ribs on his right side. "After all, it seems we have much in common."
Sslvark stood and stared, as discreetly as possible. Scarification was nothing new to him, he had considered the possibility both in the swamps and in the order's stronghold, but it was rare to see it displayed so prominantly. And the casual acceptance of fate, that he would die when his god decided and not sooner or later, was disturbing, not least because it pointed towards him having no sense of self-preservation. He stepped forward, and nodded towards the priest. "Good evening, Brother. I take it you are ready to leave?"
Brother Saul bows in return when Kiera does, smiles at Damar's attempt at humor, and replies to Sslvark. "Not yet, but it will only be the matter of a few minutes to make ready," he explains. (Everyone please make a sense motive check and an -a-w-a-r-e-n-e-s-s- PERCEPTION check.)
“Hello and nice to meet you.” Syleen, standing on the back of the group, greets the branded human. She does not react to the holy symbol on his forehead – it's not the first time she sees someone branded like this... though at first glance Brother Saul appears considerably more sane than the few branded fanatics she has met in the past. Brother Saul smilies slightly. "A healing tincture of herbs, applejack, and magic," he replies, touching the flask. "It was gifted to me by a Senior Priestess of my order, who was retiring from the adventurers life just after the divination was conducted telling me that I would take it up one day. Think not to drink it for it's alcoholic property, the healing energy contained within renders that pleasant poison quite inert," he explains.
(Everyone has thier information about the checks, time to move on...) Brother Saul retrieves several items from a footlocker at the end of his bed, which opens with a key that hangs about his neck, and begins donning his gear. It includes a chain shirt that hangs to his knees, tabard with Pharasma's holy symbol embroidered on the front and back, a sturdy backpack loaded with assorted necessities, and lastly some sturdy boots, a black cloak, and a light blue-green hood with a long tail that he wraps around his neck like a scarf. Additionally he takes out a pair of daggers, a pair of "heavyweight gauntlets"*, a light crossbow with a quiver of 40 quarrels, and an exquisite longsword with Iomidae's holy symbol carved into the cross guard but Pharasma's etched deeply into the pommel wieght with some potent acid and the cavity filled with pale blue/green/white glass. *(Like Spiked Gauntlets, except they weigh more and deal bludgeoning damage instead of piercing damage: there also are "Razor Gauntlets" which weigh the same as Spiked but deal slashing damage and are slightly more expensive...) When he has donned his Armour, buckled on his weapons and pack, and put on his socks, boots, cloak and hood he takes his pair of contracts from the scroll case Reverend DeLaHunt hands him and signs where he's bid, then looks at Sergeant Noah and asks "You require supplies, yes?" At the sergeant's nod he then turns to the Reverend and asks, "May we make use of the temple stores?" She too nods and hands him a ring of keys for which he thanks her and says "If you will please let me through I will show you to the store rooms to retrieve what you have asked the Reverend to provide..." (And Go!)
Keira admires the priest's gauntlets thoughtfully, but keeps her thoughts to herself for the moment. She falls in line next to Nalana and follows Brother Saul to fetch the groups supplies. (Trying to write with frostbitten hands takes a long time ;-: )
Damar follows Keira's gaze to brother Saul's gauntlets. His face lights up, and he leans over to whisper to Nalana as he follows the rest of the party.
Keira's ears perked up, and she covered her red face, which after over-hearing damar's "advice" was hotter than the desert sands she was raised in. The monk made no comment and she privately steeled herself for the journey she was about to undertake with the embarrasing man.
As she watches from her position in the back Syleen notices a few things she finds... curious, but the only one of immediate interest for her is the man's holy symbol. She briefly considers asking about it and potentially insulting him... "What are you keeping in that holy symbol of yours?" The elf silently thanks Damar for his question, saving her the trouble of asking herself. Though it turns out that Brother Saul is not the kind of person that is offended by such questions. When the group leaves to go get their supplies she follows but lets everyone else pass her, leaving her at the back of the small procession and allowing her to observe the others without any of them doing the same to her. She raises an eyebrow when, after Damar's whisper, Keira's face turns bright red, but says nothing about it for the moment. (OOC: Trying to catch up. I was a bit out of it the last two days due to not getting enough sleep and relatives visiting.)
Brother Saul leads the group away from his cell, looking at a sheet of paper with some notes scribbled on it. (DC 20 Perception check to 'read over his shoulder'.) One floor down and two over he opens the door to the first store room and bids you all wait outside. Shortly he returns with nine vials that all are filled with the same pale blue glowing liquid. He hands three to both Keira and Syleen then one to each of the other members of the group except himself and Sergeant-At-Arms Noah Plasterer. As soon as the potions are portioned out he locks the door behind him and you move on to another store room, this one with an icon of cast bronze scales on it. Brother Saul says: “Master Damar, will you come inside to be fitted with your breastplate?”
Keira looked thoughtfully at the three light blue vials in her hand and after a moment of deliberation, handed two of them over to Nalana. She just smiled without explaining, and turned back to watch Damar's transformation and departure in interest.
