Good work. I was not expecting Goma to handle herself that well.

Yeah, we definitely should retreat and get some new clothes for Isalia, while also taking a rest.

It looks like Cherchiel's bodysuit is still torn, so cast Repair on it again?


Having someone to take care of the traps certainly sounds like a good idea. So we should take Isalia along.

Naturally this begs the question of where to go. We don't really have a direction beyond getting that magic stone, which we temporarily abandoned after all.


I personally believe we should leave Alveare for latter, chiefly because the Monarch's throne sounds like it is home to the monarch which appears to be this floor's boss

I vote that we go for Air Fortis. That sounds the least treathening of the bunch. Oh, and of course we should ask Isalia if she has any information to share with us.
 
Oops... I originally did the math wrong and thought Yulia didn't have enough Mana to cast repair, then realized she did and fixed it, but forgot to remove the torn status from Cherchiel's outfit. Fixed.
 
I agree with Gambio's plan. Rest recover, then we can meet back up to continue forwards.

Hello Isalia! We would love help traversing the caverns. We can help keep you safe while you do your job keeping us safe.
 
Hm, I noticed that Yulia's mana is still at 10% I take it that's a mistake?

Sure lets move towards the gathering spot.

That said, remain vigilant. While I woudn't expect one here, this light perfectly matches the description of a Mortis Lure.

So, slowly advance forward and make sure to not suddenly fall into a pool of water.

We might have to rely on Goma and Isalia here.
 
Well that's not good. Yulia can you here us properly? I feel The Problem may be messing with us still... I told you that you needed to rest first, if you heard this please say Potato, quietly, out loud right away!

Past a potential issue... Ok let's not disturb the nest of creatures while in the middle of them. We know lanterns are safe areas so let's head there first. Perhaps we could rest there for a moment? Otherwise let's grab the resources and head back first and REST to recover your mana.

Also I agree, be very cautious of water down here!

I'm sorry you had to go through that Isalia. We could always use more help if you wanted to join us. Guess it's a little late to ask what your combat strengths are...

Ok so we need the horn blown, the mask dawned, and some leather wings skinned. Our history lesson didn't say they had anything particularly dangerous so just don't let their numbers get to us. Stay close to the entrance and wall to prevent them from doing fly-bys. Let's conserve our mana unless things get dire.

After these are defeated wait for a bit to see if other leather wings join in. If things are quiet then carefully leave this area.
 
Hm, looks like we missed quite a lot by knocking out knocker that early, almost a shame.

Alright, time to deal with these bats. This shouldn't be much of an issue.

The biggest problem will no doubt be the darkness. Do we really want Boarchiel in this situation? Last thing we need is her attacking the rest of the group.

Goma hand over the horn to Yulia and let her sound it. Then have Yulia cast energize on Goma and Isalia


These two will be vital as they can actually see a thing and will be our main damage dealers. As for Yulia and Cherchiel. I need you to remain calm and be on the defensive. Yulia use heal when needed and defend yourself with the rapier. As for Cherchiel, your spear might not be the best weapon for these highly agile flying targets in the dark. So I would suggest to use your shield instead and bash them when you feel them come close. Your job here is to mostly be distraction, so feel free to shout loudly to get them to attack you.

This is more meta but I'm actually in a bit of dilemma here. I approach the fights from a mostly roleplay perspective, even though the actual damage calculation is more of a numbers game

For example, in this situation I do believe using Boarchiel would yield more damage, but I don't think it makes sense to have a battle drunk angel swing a huge spear around in the dark.


I think a case can be made for the meta gaming approach, as we voices are privy to a lot more information, but on the other hand said meta gaming would also lead every fight to be less strategic.

I guess what it ultimately boils down to, are the voices privy to the end of battle information given? As in the actual numbers?

Because if so I think it would be justified to go for a more meta approach in battle. The whole tower is already pretty gamey, so I don't think that would be a narrative breach.

I forgot about the darkness so I completely agree with your strategy, but I also forgot horns are loud! We do not need to wake every leather wing in the area as I'm pretty sure there was more When we first were coming in. Energize and tight formation near the wall to prevent fly-bys.
 
In response to the roleplay vs meta aspect... The numbers are not always static. Conditions may change the effectiveness of certain strategies. I will say that roleplay wise the voices probably shouldn't be considered privy to the behind the scenes stuff like number calculations and dice rolls. They're there simply to inform you from a player standpoint the results of your actions.

But I will absolutely say that Warider is for instance correct here. The Horn's bonus will probably end up negative since it will in fact, increase the number of enemies and while I won't say whether Boarchiel will help or not, the idea that her swinging wildly in the darkness might be a hazard would potentially mean her bonus would end up being negated as well. The point being that situation is often more important than the static numbers. Case in point. Cure gives no bonus, unless it's specifically countering something, like in the knocker fight where it auto negated each of Knocker's poisons.
 
Got it. In that case I stick to the strategic approach.

Also, givn this information I guess I need to change my vote to note using the horn as well XD Cherchiel probably shouldn't make much noise either.
 
We are the wise council of voices, we RP by being meta to some degree.

Ignore this rambling Yulia and focus on the fight! We just needed insite from the tower.
 
Adding the numbers is definitely a welcome addition. Should make choosing equipment much easier.

Also, holy cow energize is op as fuck with our new staff

We have a couple of things to take care of in town so might as well head back for now

Goma needs to tell us what she can make with our new ingredients
And then we should visit the dwarf and see what he can give us for these six leather pieces, incidentally killing them was so easy that we should consider farming them.
Incidentally, Isalia, anything you could tell us about the mindfuckers in the dream path?
Oh and of course also get a rest in while you are back in town.

I wanna make this clear real quick, just in case it isn't clear. Energize has always been a flat -5 for each use, the staff increases it to -7, which with two uses one for Goma and one for Isalia became a -14 total.
 
Great job Squad! Fights like these are no problem for us.

Definitely time to rest, complete requests, and continue asking everyone if they know how to do with the mind eaters. If possible I think Goma should make some more mana potions as those are the most important thing we need in a dire situation.

We still have steel ingots so could improve Isalia's gear, regardless of joining us as long as she continues to help this floor. You were a great help in this fight! You and Cherchiel may need to arm wrestle to see who's stronger.

If everything gets done we should continue exploring the north.
