You did call out the lack of bleeding, both of them did very quickly hide their injuries. Of course the tests don't really work that way and the mimics themselves are unaware they are mimics, at least until they are triggered. Outing them as mimics earlier is possible, but basically involved a definite decision that they were in fact mimics. Which unfortunately never happened. You were correct and you did call Isalia out as possibly being a mimic, but that wasn't definite enough. Some sort of decisive action needed to be taken and it didn't happen. I'm looking back through the thread to see if I missed a call for more decisive action, but I didn't see one.

 

I guess I figured asking Yulia to stab people would count for that XD

It's fine, we're here now and the story is made better because of it. I'd feel better if you just told me it was a dice roll

 

I mean to be fair, your direction to stab people was countered by Gambio and you did both agree, not to in fact stab people

 

Oh! If we defeat this encounter by the way, we are saving everyone. Wanted to add that since we usually immediately rest at town.

 

That was actually my first thought as well, but I think given engin's posts here we can discard that possibility.

I don't think there was any way for us to prevent this without outright trying to murder them. And the consequences of being wrong would have been devastating. The mimics not knowing that they are mimics is quite horrifying.

Uh, sorry warider, but I have to veto you here. We have Isalia and Cherchiel both naked in tubes, secured by tentacles. Even if Goma manages to break them free and they are actually capable of fighting(doubtful), they will still be completely useless.(Equipment is needed to deal damage)

Doing so also means Goma is out of the battle for a long time and while she hardly is a powerhouse we really need every point of damage we can get here

I agree with wariders general buff strategy but add that Yulia should in addition also sound the horn. Also lets undermine both of the fuckers, this is no time to be stingy with spells.


I don't think your dagger will be very useful against these tentacles, Goma, so take Yulia's rapier instead and start slashing.

So Yulia, Blizzard obviously, then switch to Icicles. Lets try bringing one down first and then focus on the other.

All of this will be a major drag on your mana so drink potions as needed.

 

Ok here's my thoughts on that. I agree that naked they would be almost useless and agree going to them is a poor idea.

I however do notice that all our companions still show up in the list along with their gear. I imagine that the gear was on the mimics and is now on the floor. But Cherchiel is still effected by divine grace? Perhaps the mimic did use the book, but it's powers still transfered to Cherchiel through some kind of link that these mimics are clearly using? If the mimics are using the host, it would make sense they need the host to get stronger if they are to then copy it?

Regardless Yulia needs her rapier, but Goma is already getting the mask. Once she becomes Boarma she could easily wield the Cherchiel's larger shield and spear with her new strength.

I agree with the horn in either situation. But do we, through our Voice link, know the condition of our actual allies? This could be important in two ways, if they are fully geared then this could all be a trick. If they are naked does Cherchiel still have grace? If so she is extremely useful even if naked.

I will revise Boarma war cry once we figure this all out XD

Hmm...we still need confirmation in which state Cherchiel and Isalia are in.

If they have somehow access to their equipment, that changes things.

 

Agreed, do we have a Voice sight and can we trust it?

Edit: I will say Cherchiel having the buff is already a huge boost to freeing her. But knowing more would be best

 

They do not have access to their equipment, at least not at the moment. The Mimic's version of their equipment was part of the imitation and ceased to exist when they transformed. Their equipment is likely stored somewhere nearby (Coincidentally and luckily >.>) but they won't be able to access it until after the fight, unless you want to try and find it during the fight, but...

 

Yeah, that's what I expected.

I can't condone using Goma to free them in this situation.

Defeating the mimics should take priority.

Ok, plan has drastically changed. I see the boar mask is still in our inventory, not Cherchiel's so if we have the boar mask let me know so I can use Boarma XD

Since they are naked and their equipment is hidden I agree fighting is our best choice. If we are Boarma-less then I advise rope cutting, then Goma getting behind Yulia. Both of you carefully fall back to the tubes containing Isalia and Cherchiel. Once there if an opportunity to free Cherchiel shows up we could free her since if she is awake her blessing will help even naked.

Yulia undermine both the mimics then drink a potion and energize yourself. Goma blow the horn then help protect Yulia by watching for other mimics or people who are mimics as well as assisting in cutting tentacles that might overwhelm Yulia. If she is injured heal her. Yulia it's stabbing time along with your blizzard. If you see an opportunity to icicle one at it's core do so. Take these imposters down! Goma i particularly want you to keep an eye on Yulias feet for sneaky trips.


If we do have the boar mask then the roles might reverse. Yulia blows the horn, energizes Boarma and then supports Boarma from behind with icicles, Blizzard, and stabs to prevent trips or being overwhelmed. Boarma will focus on slashing the mimics to pieces. Drink potions as needed, spare nothing if you need it!

If we do have the mask let me know so I can hype up Boarma properly XD

Oh, also I advise two things in either scenario after undermining them. One is to throw a silver knife at each of them. I still believe shapeshifters should be effected in some way. Second is to use a gas grenade, mimics usually have slimy skin so would probably breath a bit through their skin and be effected by the poison. Frog logic XD

 

I'm just gonna say that as illogical as it is... Sure you have the boar mask... I've kind of always counted it as being in Yulia's inventory even when Cherchiel was using it so would be weird to just decide otherwise now.

 

GOMA! Your time to rise is now! Dawn the mask of the boar and be reborn! Do you see these abominations in front of you? They pretended to be your woman, pretended to be your friend!

You now wear the face of terror and the skin of the indomitable! You are more boar than goblin. You are savage and unstoppable! Take your dagger, a Tusk you will use to rip your opponents to pieces! You are strong! You are tough! You... are... BOARMA!

Yulia support your companion. Like I said before, undermine the mimics, drink a potion. Energize Boarma, blow the horn, then icicle and prevent Boarma from getting overwhelmed. Watch the floor for them trying to trip as well as check every now and then for extra mimics nearby. Drink potions as needed, throw a silver knife at each, as well as throw a gas grenade behind them if you can avoid hitting Boarma. Blizzard should also be active at all times to slow and distract them.

 

Silver is for demons, so I don't see this doing much, but sure, might as well test the damage output of these things.

Looks like we have our strategy. Lets go with this

Great work Boarma! I understand that rest is what is needed, but if we are to leave we need to know who is trapped first! Yulia please look at all the tubes so us voices can have a record of who is trapped. Those will be people to avoid in town until we can properly rescue them. I imagine the town will be happy to have them back even if they don't know they're gone...

Also, to be sure... Please make a small cut on Cherchiel's and Isalia's arms to see blood. Heal it after Goma but we need to be sure

Yeah, I had a feeling this fight might not be too tough, but we weren't exactly in a position to be risky.

So we have two unconcious and one very horny girl, suffice to say I do not think it's a good idea to go to the old mind in such a vulnerable state. So, first back to Aresque and rest up.

Oh, and also is this the end of acension or does the path go further?

 

Ah yes my bad. This is still part of "The path to Ascension," The Ascent, the end of the path is still further ahead.

Also I did not go easy on you. Mimics are just pretty weak on their own.
