The Tower of Voices Voting Thread

Well, fuck.

Alright we can't target the tentacles, buuuuut...

Uhh...I'm sorry.

Yulia cast energize on everyone and then hit Isalia with a lightning strike, repeat until the tentacle drops her

Goma, sound the horn, after I need you to heal Isalia after each lightning strike.

Cherchiel, turn into Boarchiel and go nuts, skewer any tentacle that comes close

Isalia, once the tentacle drops you get to safety.

Can we do another run attempt after all of this or do we have to commit to fighting?

I should note... Targeting offensive spells at the tentacles works, you just can't target things like identify, puppet, or status effects, buffs, debuffs at them. You can absolutely aim a lightning strike or icicles at the tentacles though.

Also yes, you are committed to fighting if you choose to help Isalia, fleeing afterwards will be impossible.

The info on Alide will be handy to have if we ever fight her, and I think the info we got on the ring will be worth discussing when we have the chance.

For now though: Goma, blow the horn for everyone; Yulia open with Ice Strike to try and cut the tentacle, then Energize the party, then Lightning Strike; Cherchiel, help sever the tentacle holding Isalia, then drag her back ashore, and then focus on a defensive fight while Yulia chases it off with her offensive magic. We can't defeat it while it's underwater and we're above water, but we can at least force a stalemate until it leaves.

Oh! That changes things dramatically, I was thinking the thing was tad too op lol

hm yeah in that case we can target the tentacle directly, so again

Yulia cast energize on everyone and then hit the tentacle that Isalia holds with a lightning strike, repeat until the tentacle drops her. We can try an Icicle as well, we certainly do have the mana for it.

Goma, sound the horn, might actually not be a bad idea to still cast heal on Isalia in case she got injured

Cherchiel, turn into Boarchiel and go nuts, skewer any tentacle that comes close

Isalia, try to cut the tentacle thtat holds you with your sword then get to safety once it drops you

We also still have that one grenade to use. Bit of a waste perhaps, but since this is a do or die situation might not be a bad idea to go full out. Maybe if the thing tries to drag Isalia under water we can launch the grenade as a last resort

Since we chased off the kraken but don't know if there are any more ambushes waiting to be sprung, I say we gather up at the center of this island and rest for a bit. Yulia can heal everyone, but those affected by the tentacles will probably need some time to rest as well after all of that.

In the meantime, we should try to figure out why the tentacles didn't go after Yulia. The most likely causes I can think of are the silver ring or being Marked by the Abyss, although those wouldn't be helpful for the others. We could also try using Identify on the swimsuits, maybe Yulia's has some effect the others don't.

On that note, we should probably try to train up Identify. Use it on members of the party and items in the inventory until we can master it, so we can increase the amount of information we get. In particular, we might want to use it on the shells to make sure there isn't anything special about them. At a minimum, based on the ring's description, we might be able to find out who is distributing/collecting them.

And of course, the elephant in the room: The silver ring's secret effect to 'bind an angel or demon' that Alide didn't want us to know about. Cherchiel, do you have any insight on that? Could we try to Identify the ring again after mastering the spell to see if it gives us more info?

Good suggestions from Emmie

Hmm...I feel like I need something clarified before I give my input. Does God's light also work outside of battle? Or is this a case where Yulia casting repair was still counted as being part of the battle?

God's Light is broken AF and constantly works outside of battle so, any spells cast outside battle, the mana is immediately replenished. It only doesn't activate during battle.

Oh, wow, that's way more broken then I initially assumed

I hope you do realize that this means Identify will now cast on anything with impunity? lol

I can pretty much second what Emmie has suggested here. In addition to what she said, I'd like to cast identify on the Black Leather outfit, since I remember that that one apparently had a secret function we never figured out.

Also, I'd like to try identify on Goma's runed dagger, that one does crap damage so I wonder if it has a hidden function.

I be nice and leave it at that for now lol

Once we are done with all the resting and analyzing, I'd say we head over to the rainy island. The wanderers path is a bit too cryptic for my liking and backtracking all the way to the stone structure just risk running into kraken again

Yes I did realize how insanely broken God's Light is and that it allows for the use of utility spells with impunity which can be exceptionally broken. This is not a bug, it is a feature.

I applaud you for resisting to title this chapter "Chosen undead"

This seems to imply that Yulia can't die in battle, or rather that she won't stay dead. But since very few enemies are out to kill us and we have many companions that would no doubt fall before her this isn't quite something we can abuse. Definitely word to keeping in mind.

Well, Yulia, you are in this tower to cure the plague, right? Now, you have an actual personal interest in doing so. That's not a bad thing. Beyond that your state of living doesn't matter.

I still say we move next to Storm Island

I'll second going to the storm island for now.

As for the ring, thanks to Cherchiel's explanation I think I know what Levateinn intended. She gave it to the Old Mind so he could defend himself against Liloth (which is why we had to deal with him). But beyond that, I suspect the ring was intended to be used on Liloth. On top of Envy being in her title, Levateinn's clearly emotionally unstable and resentful of the fact she has no followers. Meanwhile, while the Drow have a complicated relationship with Liloth at the present, there is still gratitude towards her for creating a place for them to belong in the first place. Levateinn, out of jealousy, aided the Old Mind and even gave him a means to bind Liloth.

And the fact that it could work on Dahlia specifically may be why Alide kept that effect to herself.

A message for Yulia alone: Your party contains an angel, a goblin, and a Drow, and you don't treat them any differently because of it. That's because you don't care about what they are, but who they are. I'm sure they feel the same way towards you. It's your decision if you tell them, and if so how, but if you're struggling to grapple with this revelation on your own I think they'd want to support you.

I think we should go with the same strategy as the last time we saw someone standing alone: Yulia and Goma approach, while Isalia and Cherchiel keep watch from behind cover. It seems like Levateinn has one worshiper left. But, despite our bad relationship with Levateinn, I think we'll be fine to talk to this person. For one, I don't think Levateinn is able to communicate with her given how lonely she seems and some mention of her being punished. For another, I think the ring's connection to Levateinn can help us out.

I'd wondered why the kraken didn't target Yulia during that fight, and speculated it might be because of the Ring of Clear Mind. I'm doubling down on that, I suspect the connection to Levateinn, the trace of her magic, caused the kraken to leave the wearer untouched. If this worshiper can sense that as well, Yulia can leverage that to get what we need.

A part of me is tempted to cast information on everything but that might not be viewed kindly by everyone so I'm still holding myself back

Interesting to know that there are beings that can oppose the archdemons, well aside from angels of course.

Yeah, path of the wanderer it is
